Determination of moult stage in the South African West Coast rock lobster Jasus lalandii (h. Milne Edwards) (Crustacea: Decapoda)

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Marine Science, 2000
Nine stages and substages of post-, inter- and premoult were distinguished in the West Coast rock lobster Jasus lalandii by microscopic examination of the cuticle, epidermal retraction and setal development in the pleopods.

OMP 2008 for South Coast rock lobster resource

2008
OMP 2008 consists of an algorithm that calculates the TAC for the resource using CPUE data collected from each of three areas (New Areas 1, 2 and 3 – see Fig. 1), Note that the TAC for season y+1 will be based upon the CPUE series that ends in season y-1, i.e.

The recreational fishery for West Coast rock lobster Jasus lalandii in South Africa

South African Journal of Marine Science, 1997
The recreational fishery for West Coast rock lobster Jasus lalandii in South Africa was studied using a multistage telephone interview of permit holders over the 1991/92 to 1994/95 fishing seasons. Recreational catch information, based on permit sales only, are presented for the 1995/96 fishing season. Permit sales increased by 30% from 1991/92 to 1995/

2015 updated South Coast Rock Lobster assessment results

2015
The 2013 assessment of the resource is updated given three further years of data now available. Recruitment is estimated to have been poor over the further three seasons for which this can now be estimated. The spawning biomass trajectory has flattened after a preceding increase, and is now showing a slight downward trend.

Updated south coast rock lobster stock assessments for 2009

2009
This document is submitted in response to the requirement that “simple routine updated assessments (likely no more than core reference set models used in the OMP testing refitted taking a further year’s data into account)” be tabled every year an OMP is in operation for a fishery (MCM, 2007) This document reports such updated stock assessments for the ...

South Coast rock lobster OMP 2008 re-tuned

2011
An OMP for recommending the TAC for South Coast rock lobster resource was developed and first implemented for 20081 (Johnston and Butterworth 2008). This OMP was intended to be implemented for two years, following which a review of the underlying operating models would decide whether this OMP could be implemented “as is” for a further two years (2010 ...

South coast rock lobster OMP 2014: initial specifications

2014
An OMP for recommending the TAC for South Coast rock lobster resource was first developed and implemented for 20081 (Johnston and Butterworth 2008). A number of further OMPs have been developed for the management of this resource. These OMPs have all had similar underlying structures, with a median target spawning biomass / of 1.20 when simulation ...
