Comparing non‐staining methods with Mutvei's solution to visualize growth increments in short‐lived intertidal marine gastropod shells
Limnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.Abstract
Mutvei's solution is a widely utilized standard staining method for revealing growth increments in biogenic carbonates; however, it is a slightly toxic, destructive approach with varying success across species groups. Therefore, there has been growing interest in finding non‐toxic, less destructive, and straightforward alternative techniques ...Mahsa Alidoostsalimi, Amy L. Prendergast, Sean Ulm, Ariana B. J. Movement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.Abstract Background
Compared to Parkinson's disease, atypical parkinsonian disorders (APD) are characterized by a more rapidly progressive course, often leading to profound disability. Effective communication between clinicians, patients, and care partners is essential to support patient‐centered care and shared decision‐making.Michiko K. Bruno, Jocelyn Jiao, Neha M. Movement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.Abstract Background
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) in appropriately selected patients. DBS may be underused in certain patient populations, especially women and racialized groups. Barriers and biases to receiving DBS that could account for underuse among these groups are not well studied in Canada. Movement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView. Background
Motor speech disorders are early, common, and functionally limiting features of atypical parkinsonian disorders (APDs) such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal syndrome (CBS), and multiple system atrophy (MSA). These impairments are underrecognized and undertreated in neurology clinics.Federico Rodriguez‐Porcel, Farwa Ali, Michiko Bruno, Heather Davis Cuevas, Rohit Dhall, Kylie Dunne‐Platero, Lawrence I.
