Population structure and demographic history of a tropical lowland rainforest tree species Shorea parvifolia (Dipterocarpaceae) from Southeastern Asia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2012
Distribution of tropical rainforests in Southeastern Asia has changed over geo-logical time scale, due to movement of tectonic plates and/or global climatic changes.

National Institute of Health and Care Excellence Clinical Criteria for the Diagnosis of Knee Osteoarthritis: A Prospective Diagnostic Accuracy Study in Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) criteria for osteoarthritis (OA) obviate the need for physical examination or imaging, and their use may improve timely diagnosis of OA. However, they have not been validated. Methods Within a larger study of individuals with type 2 diabetes, participants with and without self ...

Prevalence and Genetic Diversity of Bartonella spp. in Small Mammals from Southeastern Asia

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2012
Among 1,341 blood samples from rodents that were trapped in Southeast Asia between 2008 and 2010, we found a prevalence of Bartonella infection ranging from 9.6 to 11.9%. Bartonella species identified (143 isolates) included B.

Reductive Supramolecular In Situ Construction of Nano‐Platinum Effectively Couples Cathodic Hydrogen Evolution and Anodic Alcohol Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The supramolecular framework reductant is developed to realize the in situ construction of highly dispersed ultrafine nano‐Pt. The nano‐Pt supported on the BCN carrier realizes multi‐scenario electrocatalytic water hydrogen production, and establish a high‐performance cathode hydrogen evolution‐anode methanol oxidation coupling system, presenting a low‐

Global mtDNA genetic structure and hypothesized invasion history of a major pest of citrus, Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2018
The Asian citrus psyllid Diaphorina citri Kuwayama is a key pest of citrus as the vector of the bacterium causing the “huanglongbing” disease (HLB). To assess the global mtDNA population genetic structure, and possible dispersal history of the pest, we ...

C1q+ Macrophage–Tumor Cell Interaction Promoted Tumorigenesis via GPR17/PI3K/AKT Pathway Induced DNA Hypermethylation in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the TME of NPC, C1q secreted by C1q+ TAMs interacted with GPR17 to activate PI3K/AKT signaling through strengthening GPR17 coupling PI3K and increasing calcium levels in tumor cells. The activated PI3K/AKT signaling further induces DNA hypermethylation to promote the malignancy and stemness of tumor cells.

A Giant Bipolar Shell around the WO star in the Galaxy IC 1613: Structure and Kinematics [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy Letters, 2000, v.26, No 3, pp. 153-161, 2000
Observations of the nebula associated with the WO star in the galaxy IC 1613 are presented. The observations were carried out with a scanning Interferometer Fabry-Perot in H_alpha at the 6m Special Astrophysical Observatory telescope; narrow-band H_alpha and [OIII] images were obtained with the 4-m KPNO telescope.
