Microplastics on sandy beaches of the southern Baltic Sea

Microplastic occurrence and composition were investigated along the Polish coast (southern Baltic Sea) on 12 beaches differing in terms of intensity of their touristic exploitation, urbanisation and sediment characteristics. Their mean concentrations varied between 76 and 295 items per kg dry sediment.

Deep-crustal earthquakes in the southern Baltic Shield [PDF]

SUMMARY On 1986 July 14, one of the largest earthquakes in the Baltic Shield during this century occurred near Skovde in the province of Vastergotland, Sweden, with a magnitude of ML(UPP) = 4.5. It was followed by the so far largest number of recorded aftershocks, more than 20, from any Swedish earthquake.
