Heavy metals in zooplankton from the Southern Baltic

Chemosphere, 2006
Samples of zooplankton and suspended matter were collected using a Bongo net (0.33/0.50 mm mesh net), and Nucleopore filters, respectively, from the Southern Baltic off Poland. Major classes of zooplankton, and selected heavy metals (Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Cr) were determined in the collected samples.

Marine litter on the seafloor of the southern Baltic

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2018
Marine litter occurrence and composition were investigated during routine bottom trawl fish surveys type BITS performed in the Polish Maritime Areas (the southern Baltic Sea). Sampling covered a distance of 325km and an area of 16km2 at a depth range of 19-110m. Litter densities varying between 0 items/ha (34% of tows) and 2.23items/ha with a mean of 0.

Observations of coastal jets in the Southern Baltic

Continental Shelf Research, 1993
Abstract Hydrographic and moored current meter observations have been performed in the southern Arkona basin in both periods of summer and winter stratification between July 1988 and February 1990. The coastal boundary layer north of the islands Rugen and Hiddensee is characterized by strong coastal jets with velocities of up to 1 m s −1 and a time ...

Trace metals in sprats from the southern Baltic, 1983

Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1986
The cadmium, lead, copper, zinc, iron, manganese and nickel concentrations have been determined in muscle tissue of 208 sprats (Sprattus sprattus) netted in 1983 in different regions in the southern part of the Baltic Sea. The method of measurement was atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

Trace metals in herring from the southern Baltic, 1983

Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1986
The cadmium, lead, copper, zinc, iron, manganese and nickel concentrations have been determined in muscle tissue of 187 herring (Clupea harengus) netted in different regions in the southern part of the Baltic Sea. The method of measurement was atomic-absorption spectrophotometry. The mean values obtained related to wet weight (mg/kg) for herring muscle

Fish pollution with anthropogenic 137Cs in the southern Baltic Sea

Chemosphere, 2013
This paper presents the results of a study on changes in (137)Cs activity concentrations in three fish species from the southern Baltic Sea: cod (Gadus morhua), herring (Clupea harengus) and flounder (Platichtys flesus), in the period 2000-2010. During the study period a marked decline in cesium activity concentration in fish muscle tissue was observed,
