Background: The current study aimed to investigate the effects of synaptotagmin-like 3 (SYTL3) and solute carrier family 22 member 3 (SLC22A3) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and gene-environment (G × E) interactions on blood lipid levels as well ...

This work develops 3D‐printable tribopolymer networks that can enhance triboelectric performance under high humidity environments. Polar hydrophilic functional groups and incorporation of zwitterionic monomers promote bound‐water–dominated interfacial polarization thereby increasing electrical outputs.

Common Variants in Promoter of ADTRP Associate with Early-Onset Coronary Artery Disease in a Southern Han Chinese Population. [PDF]
The first genome-wide association study for coronary artery disease (CAD) in the Han Chinese population, we reported recently, had identified rs6903956 in gene ADTRP on chromosome 6p24.1 as a novel susceptibility locus for CAD.

Inference of population splits and mixtures from genome-wide allele frequency data [PDF]
Many aspects of the historical relationships between populations in a species are reflected in genetic data. Inferring these relationships from genetic data, however, remains a challenging task. In this paper, we present a statistical model for inferring

A droplet microfluidic platform is employed to enable high‐throughput, uniform tumor spheroid generation for evaluating siRNA‐loaded nanomedicines at the protein level. As a proof of concept, breast (MCF‐7) and brain (U87 MG) cancer cell lines are investigated using this platform, revealing penetration profiles and therapeutic responses between the two

Non‐Invasive Brain Targeted Delivery of Cannabidiol for Alleviating Neuroinflammatory Disease
The glucose‐functionalized nanoparticles (GNPs) are developed for the brain‐targeted delivery of cannabidiol (CBD). GNPs bypass the blood‐brain barrier (BBB) via glucose transporter‐1 (GLUT‐1) and release CBD in response to reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Absence of mutations in exon 6 of the TARDBP gene in 207 Chinese patients with sporadic amyotrohic lateral sclerosis. [PDF]
Mutations in the TARDBP gene, which encodes the Tar DNA binding protein, have been shown to causes of both familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (FALS) and sporadic ALS (SALS). Recently, several novel TARDBP exon 6 mutants have been reported in patients

China`s xinjiang policy: an analysis based on the theory of relative deprivation [PDF]
Xinjiang, which is China’s western province that comprised 18 percent of the country’s total land area and heavily populated by non-Han Chinese ethnic minorities, is a region increasingly beset by the problem of confrontation between two very distinct ...
