The Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) occupies a wide range of natural and human‐modified habitats, yet research effort across its range is highly uneven. Our systematic review of 173 studies synthesises patterns in population trends, habitat use, breeding ecology, threats and ecosystem services, revealing strong geographic and thematic biases in available ...

The study shows empirical evidence linking riverbank habitat features, scent‐marking behaviour (latrines) and prey use remains limited for large, braided river in Nepal. Our dataset combines (i) plot‐based latrine presence–absence modelling, (ii) spraint placement patterns relative to river edge and substrate and (iii) prey identification from spraints,

This study describes the contemporary genetic structure of a vulnerable short‐range endemic crayfish which is restricted to the heavily fragmented heathland‐peatland complexes of southeast Queensland across a range of approximately 200 km2. Using high‐resolution genome‐wide SNP sequencing, we estimate that population divergence in this species ...

We present the first records of the arid‐adapted Oman saw‐scaled vipers feeding on fish. Apon further review we identified 14 fish‐eating vipers globally. These findings suggest that fish may be more common in the diets of vipers than realized, although still rare, and likely to be region‐ or season‐specific prey.
