Areas of high risk for mammalian biodiversity and nature's contributions to people under global warming

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Climate change has reached unprecedented levels, causing frequent extreme events like droughts and fires. These changes are driving a sharp rise in extinction risk for mammals and threatening key Nature's Contributions to People (NCP) such as clean water, air quality, and climate regulation.

Rhododendron diversity patterns provide new insights for conserving China's montane flora

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Integrating distribution, phylogenetic, and functional trait data for 603 Rhododendron species in China identified significant conservation hotspots of multidimensional diversity, particularly in the Hengduan Mountains. Climate seasonality and topographic heterogeneity jointly influenced these patterns; however, notable conservation gaps remained ...

Lithofacies paleogeography of Middle Triassic Leikoupo Formation in the southern Sichuan Basin and its implications for conventional and unconventional dual-domain exploration

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
The Leikoupo Formation of the Middle Triassic is one of the earliest strata for oil and gas exploration in the Sichuan Basin, but its exploration has long been limited to scattered small gas fields. Recent studies reveal that the Leikoupo Formation holds

Terrain‐Induced Contrasts in the Diurnal Variations of Low‐Level Jets Over the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River During the 2010 Mei‐yu Field Campaign

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Abstract The diurnal cycle of low‐level jets (LLJs) plays a crucial role in severe convective weather during the Mei‐yu season over the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (MRYR). However, previous studies have focused on individual sites or large‐scale climatic contrasts, leaving sub‐regional variations in LLJ diurnal behaviors and their governing ...

Fluid Injection Triggers Large‐Scale Slow‐Slip Activation of the Rocky Mountain Fold and Thrust Belt

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Using interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) we show that hydraulic fracturing treatments near the subsurface deformation limit of the Rocky Mountain Fold and Thrust Belt produced 12 intraplate, aseismic, slow‐slip events with magnitudes Mw ${M}_{w}$ 4.71–5.06 at 1,640–2,410 m depths.
