Pliocene variations in the position of the Antarctic convergence in the southwest Atlantic

Paleoceanography, 1986
Middle to late Pliocene (4.1–1.9 Ma) variations in the positions of surface water masses and migrations of the Polar Front in the southwest Atlantic are inferred from a factor analysis of radiolarian assemblages from DSDP site 514. Faunal results suggest that surface water masses underwent progressive cooling as the Polar Front Zone (PFZ) advanced ...

Scopoli’s shearwater, Calonectris diomedea, in the southwest Atlantic Ocean

Marine Biodiversity, 2017
Knowledge of marine biodiversity has been increased by combining modern and traditional tools that render species identification an accurate process. In addition, understanding the ecological differences between closely related species is critical for effective conservation.

Standardising the CPUE for the Illex argentinus fishery in the Southwest Atlantic

Fisheries Science, 2009
The catch per unit effort (CPUE) is a widely used index for assessing the abundance of exploited populations in fishery management. To obtain appropriate CPUE values, it is essential to standardise catch-effort data from fisheries. This task is particularly important for squid fisheries because squid generally have a short life-span and are vulnerable ...

Macrofouling on marine litter in a Southwest Atlantic urban tropical bay and surrounds

Marine Pollution Bulletin
Rafting is the transport of marine litter by organisms, influenced by substrate characteristics such as degradation, shape, surface orientation, color, and polymer type. This study focuses on rafting in the Southwest Atlantic, characterizing biofouling on different materials across high- and low-energy beaches.

The evolution of the Rio Grande Rise in the southwest Atlantic Ocean

Marine Geology, 1984
Abstract The Rio Grande Rise, a major aseismic rise in the western South Atlantic Ocean, is composed of two portions with distinct morphologies and geological histories. The western portion of the Rise (WRGR) is a large elliptical bulge with its crest at a mean depth of about 2000 m. Numerous guyots protrude from its main platform.

Clay mineralogy of the southwest equatorial Atlantic sediments

1970
The problem under investigation is basically two fold, (1) the determination of the partial grain-size distribution and (2) the mineralogy of the clay/fine silt size fractions of the equatorial Atlantic bottom sediments. From these data, it was hoped to find the controlling factors for the size distribution and mineralogy of the bottom sediments.

[Fishing grounds characteristics of Illex argentinus in southwest Atlantic].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2010
Based on the catch amount data of Chinese squid jigger vessels from January to July 2006 and the sea current, sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a (chl-a) data derived from satellites, the characteristics of Illex argentinus fishing grounds, their productivity, and environment factors in southwest Atlantic were analyzed.
