Rapid and Ultra‐Sensitive SARS‐CoV‐2 Subgenomic RNA Detection Using Single‐Molecule With a Large Transistor‐SiMoT Bioelectronic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 17, October 20, 2025.
The single‐molecule with a large transistor‐SiMoT is proposed for the detection of the subgenomic RNA of SARS‐CoV‐2, achieving a diagnostic sensitivity of 98.0% and a specificity of 87.8%. The SiMoT technology, currently at TRL‐5, is suitable for point‐of‐care settings and delivers the result to the end user in 30 min.

I limiti della risaia: centralizzazione politica, banditismo e sovranità in Madagascar

open access: yesAntropologia, 2016
“Il mare è il limite della mia risaia”. Con questa frase Andrianampoinimerina, un celebre sovrano di una piccola regione degli altipiani del Madagascar, esprimeva, a cavallo tra il XVIII e il XIX secolo, il desiderio di unificare l’isola sotto un’unica ...

Ethics, Laws, and Research: The Case of Mediterranean Seahorses (Hippocampus hippocampus and Hippocampus guttulatus)

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 4, September 2025.
Conservation research supports biodiversity by studying species ecology and management in natural habitats. Using seahorses (Hippocampus hippocampus and Hippocampus guttulatus) as models, this paper examines legal, ethical, and practical aspects of animal use in conservation, offering best practices to guide research design while ensuring welfare ...

Leveraging Design of Experiments to Unravel the Amplification Mechanism of Single‐Molecule Wide‐Field Biosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 14, July 25, 2025.
Detecting single molecules on large interfaces is challenging due to minimal perturbations on the sensing surface. Some biological systems achieve this feat using amplification mechanisms, but their molecular foundations remain unclear. To investigate, a Design of Experiments (DoE) approach examines how pH and ionic strength in conditioning solutions ...

Microfabrication of Organic Electrochemical Transistors for High‐Performance Integrated Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 7, April 4, 2025.
This work presents a scalable photolithographic process for large‐scale and simple microfabrication of OECTs. The method uses a two‐layer photoresist with controlled cross‐linking for precise polymer channel patterning and electrodes encapsulation. The proposed process yields reproducible and high‐performance OECTs, enabling their integration with ...

β‐Sheets Orientation in Physisorbed Protein Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 6, March 16, 2025.
The β‐sheets in physisorbed layers of anti‐immunoglobulin G and bovine serum albumin on gold exhibit a non‐isotropic orientation, with a partial ordering that favors a tilt toward the gold surface. This preferential alignment is evaluated through a comparative analysis of polarization‐modulation infrared reflection‐absorption (PM‐IRRAS) spectra and ...
