Chemical and Nutritional Characteristics of United States Soybeans and Soybean Meals

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2003
Two experiments were conducted to determine U.S. soybean meal (SBM) variation. In experiment 1, SBM from 55 U.S. processors was evaluated. Significant (P < 0.05) but numerically small differences were detected in dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) concentrations. Crude protein (CP) concentrations (51.6-54.6%) were higher (P < 0.05) in SBM produced

Demand Analysis of the Markets for Soybean Oil and Soybean Meal

Journal of Farm Economics, 1966
A 10-equation simultaneous model of the soybean economy was constructed. This involved relationships representing quantities demanded domestically as well as exported, for both soybean oil and soybean meal. Estimates of the structural parameters of the model were obtained by the two-stage least-squares procedure, using first differences of the data ...

Replacing soybean meal for cottonseed meal on performance of lactating dairy cows

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2015
Cottonseed meal (CSM) is an alternative source of protein, and previous studies have been shown that it can replace soybean meal (SBM) without decrease animal performance. However, Brazilian CSM has a different chemical composition compared with the usual CSM reported in the literature.

Rapid deter mination of protein in soybean meals

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1972
AbstractProtein content of soybean meal is determined by a modified biuret method. Samples are stirred with 0.5N sodium hydroxide containing normal or isopropyl alcohol and copper hydroxide at 70 C. Protein is determined from the absorbance of the filtered solution at 550 nm. Satisfactory correlation with the standard Kjeldahl method was obtained.

Comparison of the quality of soybean meal and oil by soybean production origin

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society
AbstractPrevious reports indicate variable soybean quality parameters exported from different geographic regions. This review compares soybean and soybean co‐products grown under diverse environmental conditions. While numerous studies have been conducted on whole soybean and soybean meal (SBM) composition by origin, similar analysis of soybean oil is ...
