Automated Bacterial Identification and Morphological Feature Analysis in Low‐Dose Cryo‐EM Using YOLOv11

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
AI‐based tools enable rapid characterization of bacterial ultrastructure in low‐dose cryogenic transmission electron microscopy. The envelope thickness tool quantifies membrane thickness and anisotropy. The flagella module analyzes filament morphology and detects cell‐flagella contacts.

Hydrogeothermal potentials of Rogozna mountain and possibility of their valorization

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2019
The subjects of this study are hydrogeothermal potentials of Rogozna mountain (Serbia) and possibility of their use. Thermo-mineral springs at the mountain’s foothill are the leftovers from an intensive volcanic activity during the Tertiary.

Generalized Task‐Driven Design of Soft Robots via Reduced‐Order Finite Element Method‐Based Surrogate Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A unified, reusable modeling pipeline enables task‐driven design of soft robots across actuator families and task scenarios. High‐fidelity simulations are compressed into compact pseudo‐rigid‐body joint surrogates, while a design‐conditioned meta‐model generates new surrogates from geometry parameters without rerunning finite element method.

Design Optimization of Soft Fabric Pneumatic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a systematic optimization framework for elongating and bending fabric‐based soft pneumatic actuators. After a preliminary design‐space reduction, the framework minimizes energy consumption under mechanical performance constraints by integrating validated finite element modeling with statistical surrogate models. Optimal designs were

A new Patient‐Reported Outcome Scale to assess autoimmune Encephalitis: PROSE

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) has long‐lasting effects. Generic clinical assessment‐scales insufficiently capture disease‐specific sequelae. Patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) assess outcomes important to patients, ensuring relevance in the clinic and trials.

From sulphur to perfume: spa and SPA at Monchique, Algarve [PDF]

open access: yesAnthropology & Medicine, 2011
In the thermal village of Monchique, Algarve, different streams of water-related knowledge and practices coexisted for centuries. Those waters were traditionally known as aguas santas (holy waters) and believed to have redemptive healing powers. In the seventeenth century, the Catholic church took control of the place, refashioned the bathing rituals ...
