Thermography for the conservation of historical artifacts: the case of the Chinese Buddha in an underground environment

open access: yesArcheomatica
Thermography is the ideal choice for protecting historical treasures. Using this technique, we are able to identify imperfections that can damage our artifacts, such as water infiltration or mold, invisible to the naked eye.

Enhanced Resistive Switching Uniformity in Tantalum Oxide Memristor Devices via Copper Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Metal oxide memristor devices typically suffer from uncontrolled forming processes and limited resistive switching uniformity due to the stochastic formation of an oxygen vacancy filament. Improved resistive switching uniformity in Ta2O5 memristor is developed by Cu implantation in the switching oxide.

Regeneration of Vrnjačka Banja and sustainable tourism development [PDF]

open access: yesArhitektura i Urbanizam, 2005
The development of Vrnjačka Banja has always been dynamic, starting with its reputation of an elite spa, followed by being a spa for mass medical and other tourist purposes, all up to present days when Banja became the economic center of its municipality,

Intersection local times for interlacements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We define renormalized intersection local times for random interlacements of L\'evy processes in R^{d} and prove an isomorphism theorem relating renormalized intersection local times with associated Wick polynomials.Comment: SPA, to ...

Influence of Top Electrode Metal on Resistive Switching in Multilayer MOCVD MoS2 Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
MoS2 memristors typically use evaporated noble metal electrodes. This study compares Pd, Ni, and Al electrodes and sputtered versus evaporated deposition. Pd is passive, while Ni damages MoS2, yielding poor switching. Sputtered Al enables reproducible ECM‐type switching with 95% yield, whereas evaporated Al forms an interfacial oxide that suppresses ...

Growing networks of overlapping communities with internal structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce an intuitive model that describes both the emergence of community structure and the evolution of the internal structure of communities in growing social networks.

CFD modeling and sensitivity‐guided design of silicon filament CVD reactors

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Filament‐based chemical vapor deposition (CVD) for silicon (Si) coatings is often treated as an adaptation of planar deposition. But this overlooks fundamental shifts in transport phenomena and reaction kinetics. In filament CVD, the filament acts as a substrate, heat source, and flow disruptor simultaneously. In this work, we ask: What really

Artificial Intelligence‐Driven Insights into Electrospinning: Machine Learning Models to Predict Cotton‐Wool‐Like Structure of Electrospun Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Electrospinning allows the fabrication of fibrous 3D cotton‐wool‐like scaffolds for tissue engineering. Optimizing this process traditionally relies on trial‐and‐error approaches, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐based tools can support it, with the prediction of fiber properties. This work uses machine learning to classify and predict the structure of

Uniform and Pointwise Shape Preserving Approximation by Algebraic Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We survey developments, over the last thirty years, in the theory of Shape Preserving Approximation (SPA) by algebraic polynomials on a finite interval.
