Compact Binary Coalescences: Astrophysical Processes and Lessons Learned

open access: yesGalaxies, 2022
On 11 February 2016, the LIGO and Virgo scientific collaborations announced the first direct detection of gravitational waves, a signal caught by the LIGO interferometers on 14 September 2015, and produced by the coalescence of two stellar-mass black ...

Improved optical ranging for space based gravitational wave detection

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2013
The operation of 106 km scale laser interferometers in space will permit the detection of gravitational waves at previously unaccessible frequency regions. Multi-spacecraft missions, such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), will use time delay interferometry to suppress the otherwise dominant laser frequency noise from their measurements.

Programmable precision voltage reference source for space-based gravitational wave detection

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2023
Gravitational wave detection plays an important role in exploring the universe and opening up a new chapter for multi-messenger astronomy. As the most common device used for space and ground-based gravitational wave detection, large-scale laser interferometer requires a low-noise laser as a beam source.

Laser intensity noise evaluation system for space-based gravitational wave detection

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2022
The space-based gravitational wave detection can acquire the gravitational wave source information with larger characteristic mass and scale, forming a complementary detection scheme with ground-based gravitational wave detection, primordial gravitational wave detection, and pulsar gravitational wave detection.

Methodological demonstration of laser beam pointing control for space gravitational wave detection missions

open access: yes, 2014
In space laser interferometer gravitational wave (G. W.) detection missions, the stability of the laser beam pointing direction has to be kept at 10 nrad/root Hz.

Meaning of the wave function

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the meaning of the wave function by analyzing the mass and charge density distributions of a quantum system. According to protective measurement, a charged quantum system has effective mass and charge density distributing in space ...

CMB as a Probe of New Physics and Old Times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cosmic birefringence (CB)---a rotation of photon-polarization plane in vacuum---is a generic signature of new scalar fields that could provide dark energy. Previously, WMAP observations excluded a uniform CB-rotation angle larger than a degree.
