A Janus compatible software-defined underwater acoustic multiple-input multiple-output modem
This article describes the implementation of a multiple-input multiple-output acoustic communication link in shallow water conditions to enable a software-defined acoustic modem with a maximum transmission rate of 20 kbps in a 5-kHz bandwidth.

Space-Time Block Coded Cooperative MIMO Systems [PDF]
The main objective of a Cooperative Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (CMIMO) system is to improve network throughput and network coverage and save energy. By grouping wireless devices as virtual multi-antenna nodes, it can thus simulate the functions of multi-antenna systems. A Space-Time Block Code (STBC) was proposed to utilize the spatial diversity of

This paper characterizes rate-one (i.e., full rate) full-spatial-diversity-achieving communication schemes based on the channel state information (CSI) availability and antenna configurations, i.e., CSI at a transmitter (CSIT) or CSI at a receiver (CSIR)

Distributed MIMO coding scheme with low decoding complexity for future mobile TV broadcasting [PDF]
A novel distributed space-time block code (STBC) for the next generation mobile TV broadcasting is proposed. The new code provides efficient performance within a wide range of power imbalance showing strong adaptivity to the single frequency network (SFN)

Vascular endothelial‐cadherin as a marker of endothelial injury in preclinical Alzheimer disease
Abstract Objective Endothelial dysfunction is an early and prevalent pathology in Alzheimer disease (AD). We here investigate the value of vascular endothelial‐cadherin (VEC) as a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) marker of endothelial injury in preclinical AD.

Achieving Low-Complexity Maximum-Likelihood Detection for the 3D MIMO Code [PDF]
The 3D MIMO code is a robust and efficient space-time block code (STBC) for the distributed MIMO broadcasting but suffers from high maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding complexity.

Distributed space-time block codes [PDF]
Introduction In this chapter, we consider space-time coding strategies for multiple-relay cooperative systems that effectively harness available spatial diversity. More specifically, the goal is to examine ways to forward signals efficiently from multiple relays to the destination while addressing the important practical issue of synchronization ...

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Block Codes in Pomset Metric over $\mathbb{Z}_m$ [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce codes equipped with pomset block metric. A Singleton type bound for pomset block codes is obtained. Code achieving the Singleton bound, called a maximum distance separable code (for short, MDS ($\mathbb{P},\pi$)-code) is also investigated.
