What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

On Bandwidth Efficient Modulation for High-Data-Rate Wireless LAN Systems
We address the problem of high-data-rate orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) systems under restrictive bandwidth constraints. Based on recent theoretic results, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configurations are best suited for this ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Mass density governs the protective behavior of oxide layers on nuclear fuel cladding. Ptychographic X‐ray computed tomography measures zirconium oxide grown on Zircaloy‐4 under reactor and autoclave conditions, revealing nearly identical bulk densities of 5.1 ± 0.80 g cm−3.

Near-Instantaneously Adaptive Cooperative Schemes based on Space-Time Block Codes and V-BLAST
In this paper we propose two adaptive schemes for improving the achievable throughput of cooperative diversity aided wireless networks. These schemes are capable of accommodating the channel signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) variation of wireless systems by ...

Cooperative Orthogonal Space-Time-Frequency Block Codes over a MIMO-OFDM Frequency Selective Channel
In this paper, a cooperative algorithm to improve the orthogonal space-timefrequency block codes (OSTFBC) in frequency selective channels for 2*1, 2*2, 4*1, 4*2 MIMO-OFDM systems, is presented. The algorithm of three node, a source node, a relay node and

Coherent and differential space-time shift keying: a dispersion matrix approach
Motivated by the recent concept of Spatial Modulation (SM), we propose a novel Space-Time Shift Keying (STSK) modulation scheme for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) communication systems, where the concept of SM is extended to include both the space

Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.
