CORDIC Implementation of Space Vector Modulation

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
Space vector modulation (SVM) is commonly used in motor drives. In order to reduce the calculation time in SVM a coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) algorithm is used to generate trigonometric functions. The algorithm is implemented using a microcontroller.

Space Vectors Modulation for Nine-Switch Converters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2010
Recently, nine-switch inverter and nine-switch-z-source inverter have been proposed as dual output inverters. In this paper, the space vector modulation (SVM) of nine-switch inverter and nine-switch-z-source inverter is proposed. The proposed method increases the sum of modulation indices up to 15% in contrast with the conventional, scheme in which the

FPGA-based universal multilevel space vector modulator

31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. IECON 2005., 2005
This paper presents a new circuit design of multilevel space vector modulation (SVM) strategy. This strategy is based on the decomposition of the reference voltage, and it is utilized at any number of levels. The proposed algorithm has been realized using field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology.

Space Vector Modulation for Multi-Source Inverters

2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC), 2018
Multi Source Inverters (MSI) as a magnetic-less approach for active control of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems (HESS) in Electric Vehicles (EVs) have been proposed lately. Using such technologies leads to more compact and more efficient HESS in EVs. In this paper, a novel Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique is surveyed for a recently proposed modular

Interleaved PWM with discontinuous space-vector modulation

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1999
This paper describes the effect of interleaved discontinuous space-vector modulation (SVM) in paralleled three-phase systems using three-phase pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifiers as an example. At the discontinuous point of the SVM, the phase shift between the switching signals of the paralleled modules generates a zero-sequence excitation to the ...

Power losses for space vector modulation techniques

Power Electronics in Transportation, 2002
Space vector modulation (SVM) allows 15% more bus utilization than sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PWM). In addition, variations of the SVM method can offer 33% less switching edges. With power losses in the inverter being a significant concern, a reduction in modulation losses can be a significant benefit.

A Bit-Stream based space vector modulator

The 2010 International Power Electronics Conference - ECCE ASIA -, 2010
Bit-Stream based control, which uses one bit wide signals to control power electronics applications, is a new approach for controller design in power electronic systems. Bit-Stream signals are inherently high frequency in nature, and as such some form of down sampling or modulating is essential to avoid excessive switching losses. This paper presents a

Space Vector Modulated Control for Electric Spring

2018 2nd International Conference on Power, Energy and Environment: Towards Smart Technology (ICEPE), 2018
From last two decades owing to drastic rise in industrialization and modernization the generated power by conventional energy sources are insufficient to meet the increasing power demand. In order to overcome this major problem Non-conventional energy sources are penetrating in the power grid.

Discrete Space Vector Modulation Applied on a PMSM Motor

2006 12th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2006
The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) are extensively used in high-performance industrial applications. The electromagnetic torque in a PMSM is proportional to the angle between the stator and rotor flux linkages. Therefore, high dynamic response can be achieved by means of Direct Torque Control (DTC).

Cascaded Three-Level Inverters with Synchronized Space-Vector Modulation

Conference Record of the 2006 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Forty-First IAS Annual Meeting, 2006
Novel method of synchronized pulse width modulation (PWM) has been disseminated for control of cascaded neutral-point-clamped inverters feeding open-end winding induction motor drive with single dc voltage source. Control algorithms provide in this case full elimination of the common-mode voltages both in each inverter and in the load.
