Drawing, Measurement and Movement. The Representation of Space in Urban Maps (an Interdisciplinary Analysis)

open access: yesDiségno, 2020
Urban maps represent the simplified drawing of a complex world (urban space) where material and immaterial phenomena, problems and solutions coexist; they are a tool used by individuals to perceive and act in space.

Almost complex structures on complex projective spaces [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1974
In this paper we classify the almost complex structures on a complex projective space as roots of a certain polynomial equation.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Unveiling cancer crosstalk: Mapping complexity across time and space.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
Cancer evolves through dynamic exchanges with its environment, harnessing these interactions to grow, adapt, and transcend the constraints that would otherwise limit its progress.

On the importance of investigating CME complexity evolution during interplanetary propagation

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
This perspective paper brings to light the need for comprehensive studies on the evolution of interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME) complexity during propagation. To date, few studies of ICME complexity exist.

Stable Roommates Problem with Random Preferences

open access: yes, 2015
The stable roommates problem with $n$ agents has worst case complexity $O(n^2)$ in time and space. Random instances can be solved faster and with less memory, however. We introduce an algorithm that has average time and space complexity $O(n^\frac{3}{2})$

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Sectional curvatures distribution of complexity geometry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
In the geometric approach to defining complexity, operator complexity is defined as the distance in the operator space. In this paper, based on the analogy with the circuit complexity, the operator size is adopted as the metric of the operator space ...

On the Space Complexity of Set Agreement

open access: yes, 2015
The $k$-set agreement problem is a generalization of the classical consensus problem in which processes are permitted to output up to $k$ different input values.
