On-chip electro-optic multiplexing circuit using serial microring boxcar filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
© 2018 The Authors We propose a new variant of electro-optic multiplexing scheme using the boxcar filter arrangement. The circuits consist of multistage add-drop multiplexers that can offer external input-output connections.

Microfluidic Modeling of Macrophage‐Induced Cardiac Inflammation Using NF‐κB Reporter Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A cardiac inflammation model was developed to enable real‐time analysis of macrophage‐cardiomyocyte interactions using NF‐κB‐reporter cardiomyocytes and a microfluidic co‐culture system. A MATLAB‐based model was implemented to optimize cell density and medium resupply based on TNFα diffusion kinetics. Activation thresholds and stress responses in NF‐κB‐

Multicore EDFA for Space Division Multiplexing

open access: yesIEICE Transactions on Communications, 2013
Amplification characteristics of MC-EDFA are reviewed. Applicability to future network is evaluated by utilizing core-pumping configuration. In addition, cladding-pumping configuration, which has possibilities for reducing power consumption and downsizing, is demonstrated.

Asymptotically optimal cooperative wireless networks with reduced signaling complexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper considers an orthogonal amplify-and-forward (OAF) protocol for cooperative relay communication over Rayleigh-fading channels in which the intermediate relays are permitted to linearly transform the received signal and where the source and ...

Nanobiosensor Based on Catalytic Palladium Nanoclusters and Oxidases for Bianalyte Electrochemical Determination: Glucose and Ethanol in Sweat

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A nanobiosensor for fast and simultaneous determination of sweat glucose and ethanol is presented. Deposited oxidase enzymes consume oxygen in the presence of the substrates, and co‐deposited palladium nanoclusters catalyze the electrochemical oxygen reduction, basis of the detection.

Layered Steered Space–Time-Spreading-Aided Generalized MC DS-CDMA

open access: yes, 2010
—We present a novel trifunctional multiple-input– multiple-output (MIMO) scheme that intrinsically amalgamates space–time spreading (STS) to achieve a diversity gain and a Vertical Bell Labs layered space–time (V-BLAST) scheme to attain a multiplexing ...

Cognitive Interference Alignment for OFDM Two-tiered Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this contribution, we introduce an interference alignment scheme that allows the coexistence of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) macro-cell and a cognitive small-cell, deployed in a two-tiered structure and transmitting over the ...

Novel applications of space-division multiplexing

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2016
Space-division multiplexing (SDM) using multi-core fibers (MCFs) and few-mode fibers (FMFs) was proposed as a solution to increase capacity and/or reduce the cost per bit of fiber-optic transmission. Advances in passive and active SDM devices as well as digital signal processing have led to impressive SDM transmission demonstrations in the laboratory ...
