Space Efficient Diagonal Linear Space Sequence Alignment

2010 IEEE International Conference on BioInformatics and BioEngineering, 2010
Smith-Waterman and Needleman-Wunsch are the most popular algorithms used for pairwise sequence alignment. The space and time complexity of these algorithms are quadratic. The biological sequences are composed of millions of base pairs. Hence, the quadratic space complexity becomes costlier in terms of storage requirement and performance.

Evaluation of space efficiency criteria in high-rise buildings based on functions: a case study of Türkiye

Architectural Engineering and Design Management
High-rise buildings have become a significant solution to address the challenges posed by the rapid growth of urban populations and space limitations in cities. Efficient planning and design of these buildings, aiming to achieve more productivity, can be

Space-efficient memo-functions

Journal of Systems and Software, 1996
Abstract A number of memoisation techniques to eliminate computational redundancy from a large and automatically detectable class of nonlinear functions are introduced. The techniques make use of memo-tables and memo-functions to improve the run time efficiency of functions exhibiting commutative redundancy.

Geometric spaces and efficient codes

Journal of Geometry, 1995
The theory of geometric spaces is used to construct new efficient error control codes. The emphasis is on single error correcting-double error detecting codes. Both encoding and decoding algorithms are given and analysed. A comparison is given with a shortened Hamming code to show that the new codes provide faster and less complex circuits for the ...

High‐Efficiency Synthesizer for Spatial Waves Based on Space‐Time‐Coding Digital Metasurface

Laser & Photonics reviews, 2020
Space‐time modulated metasurfaces enable efficient manipulations of nonlinear harmonics with more degrees of freedom than conventional materials by simply controlling the element geometries and modulation signals.

Efficient Spiral Search in Bounded Spaces

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1982
This correspondence defines approaches for the efficient generation of a spiral-like search pattern within bounded rectangularly tessellated regions. The defined spiral-like search pattern grows outward from a given source in a two-dimensional space, thus tending to minimize search time in many sequential tracking tasks.

Time-and space-efficient randomized consensus

Proceedings of the ninth annual ACM symposium on Principles of distributed computing, 1990
Abstract A protocol is presented which solves the randomized consensus problem [9] for shared memory. The protocol uses a total of O ( p 2 + n ) worst-case expected increment, decrement, and read operations on a set of three shared O (log n )-bit counters, where p is the number of active processors and n is the total number of processors.

Space Efficient Pipelining

2011
Multimedia objects that are stored on tertiary storage devices enjoy the large storage capacity at low cost. These objects may be retrieved using staging, time slicing, or pipelining. The staging method retrieves the whole objects to the staging buffers prior to consumption at the cost of high start-up latency.
