Patterned Assembly of Transition Metal Dichalcogenide/Graphene Heterostructures via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication of patterned transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)/graphene heterostructures via direct laser writing reveals new interface chemistry and enables efficient, customizable assembly. Selective laser irradiation of functionalized TMD/graphene triggers localized reactions, forming chemically modified interfaces.

Commercial Space Flight

open access: yes, 2019
In little more than a decade, SpaceX, Blue Origin, and a host of other upstart companies have changed the conversation about commercial space. While the plans and dreams of these pioneers were initially dismissed by nation states and major corporate launch providers, they have emerged as disruptors for the global launch market.

Single Atom‐Particle Tandem Catalysis Enables Enhanced Desolvation Kinetics for Low‐Temperature Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, the tandem catalyst consisted of single Fe atom and Fe3C nanoparticles on porous carbon sheet is initially proposed and developed to facilitate the dissociation of Li(solvent)x+ to release more isolated Li+ to participate in the subsequent polysulfide redox conversions by decreasing the related barriers, contributing to fast kinetics of ...

Abrupt reduction in shipping emission as an inadvertent geoengineering termination shock produces substantial radiative warming

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Human activities affect the Earth’s climate through modifying the composition of the atmosphere, which then creates radiative forcing that drives climate change.

Regional Impacts of Urbanization in the United States

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Remote Sensing, 2017
We simulate the impact of impervious surface areas (ISA) on the U.S. local and regional climate. At a local scale, we find the urban area warmer than the surrounding vegetation in most cities, except in arid climate cities where urban temperature is ...

Enhancing Indoor Photovoltaic Efficiency to 37.6% Through Triple Passivation Reassembly and n‐Type to p‐Type Modulation in Wide Bandgap Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Triple Passivation Treatment (TPT) strategy enables 1.75 eV wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WB‐PSCs) with suppressed halide phase segregation and n‐to‐p type surface transition. The photoluminescence quantum yield increases from 0.5 to 2.1%, indicating reduced non‐radiative losses.
