Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

The other Space Treaty: Problems of Interpretation of the Concepts of “Exploration” and “Use” in the Context of the Commercialization of Space Resources

open access: yesЕвразийская интеграция: экономика, право, политика
Aim. Тhe purpose of the study is to conduct a detailed legal analysis of the content of the concepts of “exploration” and “use” of outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, as set out in the 1967 Treaty on Principles Governing the ...

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

Bioinspired Hierarchically Interconnected Supermacroporous Hydrogels via Dual‐Templating for Rapid Atmospheric Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by lung alveolar architecture, a dual‐templating strategy combining CO2 bubble and ice templating creates mechanically robust super‐macroporous hydrogels with highly interconnected transport pathways. The resulting material achieves 3.37× faster moisture sorption and 1.72× higher solar‐driven water release than single‐templated counterparts ...

Will international space law struggle to remain relevant? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
If there is one stand-out feature that encapsulates humankind’s adventures in space over the past 60 years, it is the exponential growth and development of space-related technology, which has given rise to possibilities that would have been beyond ...

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

Robust Interlayer Exciton Interplay in a Twisted van der Waals Heterotrilayer on a Broadband Bragg Reflector up to Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we highlight a unique material platform capable of producing three distinct room temperature (RT) photoluminescence (PL) resonances from spatially separated regions composed of a heterobilayer (HBL), a homobilayer (HoBL), and an heterotrilayer (HTL) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures configuration on a highly ...
