The Best Space Resource is the One You Can Catch and Reuse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
From the beginning of space exploration more than 60 years ago, only a few in-orbit objects have been removed or reused. In fact, the Kessler Syndrome states that the number of space debris is growing exponentially [1], leaving unused uncooperative ...

Enhanced Terahertz Thermoelectricity Via Engineered Van Hove Singularities and Nernst Effect in Moiré Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Moiré band engineering in graphene/hexagonal boron nitride–based superlattices unlocks van Hove singularities (VHSs) for terahertz (THz) optoelectronics. Tuning the Fermi level near these singularities, associated with secondary neutrality points (SNPs), enhances the photothermoelectric response.

Legal and Ethical Challenges of the Use of Nuclear Technologies in Space: Risks and Opportunities [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Space Law
The article examines the concept of threats and risks of using nuclear technologies in the space sphere. In particular, it has been stated that the presence of a nuclear arsenal can act as a deterrent, forcing potential aggressors to reevaluate their ...

MULTILATERAL DETERRENCE FORMATION AND FUTURE US SPACE SECURITY CHALLENGES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
An increase in the number of satellites from commercial and military actors in the future will cause space to become more congested and contested. The increase in actors raises the question of how the United States could conduct space deterrence with ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

THE PHENOMENON OF NEW WARS: CHANGING NATURE AND VIOLENCE DIPLOMACY

open access: yesRUDN Journal of World History, 2018
The long-term process of a tectonic shift in the chessboard of world affairs has led to the historical formation of different types of wars. The term ‘new’ is not solely used to describe the new reality of warfare itself, but it is wildly used to outline

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Security in Space

open access: yesTransportation Overview - Przeglad Komunikacyjny
Abstract: The paper formulates the golden rules of space security. On this basis, the problem of security of objects orbiting the Earth was selected for detailed analysis: satellites moving in a crowded LEO (Low Earth Orbit) or slightly less exploited GEO (Geosynchronous Equatorial Orbit), and to a lesser extent MEO (Medium Earth Orbit). The growing
