Nonlinear hierarchical space-time block codes
GLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004Recent designs for space-time block codes (STBCs) have exploited the structure of the codes (unitary, orthogonal) to enable systematic construction. Code sets found by an exhaustive search to optimize cost functions can often achieve performance gains of several dB; however, such searches are not feasible for large block or constellation sizes.

Space-time block codes based on precoding
GLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004We propose a space-time block coding framework based on precoding. The code design is aimed to the tradeoff between rate, diversity and complexity. Specifically, for P transmit antennas, our block codes are based on L distinct precoding matrices, where L/spl les/P.

Linear toeplitz space time block codes
Proceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005In this paper we consider coherent flat fading wireless communication systems with multiple transmitter antennas and single receiver antenna (MISO). We propose a Toeplitz linear space time block code (STBC) that converts an original MISO flat fading channel into a Toeplitz virtual multiple inputs multiple outputs (MIMO) channel.

Shift-orthogonal space-time block codes
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2010In this paper, we present a new class of spacetime block code, called shift-orthogonal space-time block codes (SOSTBC), which can maintain orthogonality (hence symbolwise linear decoding) in asynchronous wireless relay networks, under both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying schemes.

Closed loop space-time block code
IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002In 3GPP FDD specifications, space time transmit diversity (STTD) employs space-time block code (STBC) to maintain orthogonality between the two antennas in order to avoid self-interference in fading channels. However, the STTD technique is just open loop transmit diversity, and we investigate whether we can obtain further gain if closed loop STBC is ...

Space-time block codes for noncoherent CPFSK
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2010In this paper the problem of space-time block coding for multiple-input multiple-output communication systems employing continuous phase frequency shift keying and one-shot noncoherent detection is investigated. First, the detection problem is analysed in a maximum likelihood perspective; then, design criteria for optimal space-time codes are proposed ...

Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes with Feedback
Wireless Personal Communications, 2004In this paper we consider how Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (OSTBC) can be used in the presence of feedback from the receiver to the transmitter. First, we survey how some of the feedback techniques for AWGN channels with fading can be applied to OSTBC. Then we consider a simple scheme with diagonal weighting. The optimal diagonal weighting matrix,

On diagonal algebraic space-time block codes
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2003Theoretical and practical aspects of diagonal algebraic space-time block codes over n transmit and m receive antennae are examined. These codes are obtained by sending a rotated version of the information symbols over the principal diagonal of the n /spl times/ n space-time matrix over n transmit antennae and n symbol periods.

Space-time block codes: a capacity perspective
IEEE Communications Letters, 2000Space-time block codes are a remarkable modulation scheme discovered recently for the multiple antenna wireless channel. They have an elegant mathematical solution for providing full diversity over the coherent, flat-fading channel. In addition, they require extremely simple encoding and decoding.

On non-linear space-time block codes
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002A number of space-time block codes have been proposed for the quasi-static, flat-fading channel with coherent receiver. All of these block codes are linear codes, i.e., the encoded codeword is a linear function of the input scalar symbols. Here we propose new non-linear space-time block codes, i.e., the codewords are non-linear functions of the input ...
