First Retrieval of Sea Surface Currents Using L-Band SAR in Satellite Formation
The inversion of ocean currents is a significant challenge and area of interest in ocean remote sensing. Spaceborne along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (ATI-SAR) has several advantages and benefits, including precise observations ...

Abstract Aquifer characterization is essential for predicting aquifer responses and ensuring sustainable groundwater management. In this study we develop a sparse‐grids‐based Bayesian framework to infer the hydraulic conductivity and the soil compressibility of over‐exploited aquifer systems using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) ground

Can GNSS reflectometry detect precipitation over oceans? [PDF]
For the first time, a rain signature in Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS‐R) observations is demonstrated. Based on the argument that the forward quasi‐specular scattering relies upon surface gravity waves with lengths larger than ...

Efficient SAR Raw Data Compression in Frequency Domain [PDF]
SAR raw data compression is necessary to reduce huge amounts of SAR data for a memory on board a satellite, space shuttle or aircraft and for later downlink to a ground station.

With the development and application of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), higher resolution and a wider swath have become significant demands. However, as the resolution increases and the swath widens, the two-dimensional (2D) spatial variation ...

A Versatile Processing Chain for Experimental TanDEM-X Product Evaluation [PDF]
TanDEM-X is a high-resolution interferometric mission with the main goal of providing a global digital elevation model (DEM) of the Earth surface by means of single-pass X-band SAR interferometry.

Hurricane Monitoring With Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar [PDF]
Several TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X ScanSAR images are acquired in October, 2012 to track the Hurricane Sandy. Three of the images are acquired in the open sea, which are presented in this chapter to demonstrate observations of sea surface wind and wave extracted from X-band ScanSAR image with high spatialresolution of 17min the hurricane.

An Advanced Interferometric Baseline Estimation Method (IBEM) for Spaceborne Bistatic SAR
Spaceborne bistatic synthetic aperture radar (BiSAR) employs single-pass cross-track interferometry (XTI) to invert digital elevation models (DEMs) of target areas.

Retransmitting deception jamming (RDJ) degrades and misleads the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image interpretation by forming false targets. The beyond-Pulse Repetition Time (PRT) RDJ enlarges the effective jamming area without constraining the jammer ...

The Geometry of Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar
The paper defines a new coordinate system that was developed in 1977-78 for the world's first digital synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ground processor for images from the Seasat-A satellite. The coordinate system is for the range-Doppler paradigm in the context of a spaceborne platform orbiting a rotating planet.
