On spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems in China

2014 XXXIth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS), 2014
The Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology has been developed in China since 1970s, and the first airborne SAR system was established in 1979 and obtained multiple SAR images. Although the spaceborne SAR technology started later in China, advanced concepts and key techniques of spaceborne SAR systems were proposed and investigated in recent twenty ...

Overview of results of Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C, X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR)

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1995
The Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C, X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) was launched on the Space Shuttle Endeavour for two ten day missions in the spring and fall of 1994. Radar data from these missions are being used to better understand the dynamic global environment.

Calibration and characterisation of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radars (SAR)

Advances in Space Research, 1997
Abstract Applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data are many and varied. The emergence of SAR as a commercially viable commodity is also focusing needs to provide services to fulfil applications at affordable prices. This then drives the need to include only features in the system that are necessary and to arrive at designs which are cost ...

Precision focusing algorithms for spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1996
Abstract The two-dimensional transfer function is derived from the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging model. Using this expression, the approximations made in the classical range-Doppler and recent chirp-scaling algorithms are examined. An alternative algorithm to the chirp-scaling algorithm is presented.
