Review and Evaluation of Ceramic‐Stabilized Iron Oxides for Use as Energy Storage Based on Iron‐Steam Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The iron‐steam process is an emerging technology for hydrogen production and storage, gaining attention due to its potential for sustainability and cost‐effectiveness. Developing an inexpensive and stable contact mass with maximum oxygen capacity while maintaining suitable reaction kinetics and chemical yields remains a challenge.

On Stability of the Linearized Spacecraft Attitude Control System [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
This note is concerned with the stability and stabilization of the linearized spacecraft attitude control system. Necessary and sufficient conditions are respectively provided to guarantee that the considered systems are polynomially stable and stable in the Lyapunov sense.

The Gravitational Spacecraft

open access: yes, 1999
There is an electromagnetic factor of correlation between gravitational mass and inertial mass, which in specific electromagnetic conditions, can be reduced, made negative and increased in numerical value. This means that gravitational forces can be reduced, inverted and intensified by means of electromagnetic fields.

Navigating the Golden Triangle: The Need to Jointly Consider Modularization and Interface Choices When Making Performance, Cost, and Schedule Tradeoffs for Complex System Development

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Decomposition is a critical enabler of complex system development, as it enables both task specialization and efficiency through parallel work. The process of decomposing involves partitioning system parameters into tightly coupled modules and managing any cross‐module coupling by designing passive interfaces or through active coordination.

Risk Management for Commercial‐Off‐The‐Shelf Parts Based Space Hardware

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Commercial‐Off‐the‐Shelf (COTS) parts use is a key strategy that the space industry is embracing to meet an ever‐increasing demand for space access and services. Integrating COTS parts into spacecraft architectures is beneficial in many aspects such as integrating modern technologies, reducing costs, improving reliability, accelerating payload

Hierarchical Planning Applied to the Preliminary Design of CubeSats: Nanospace Study

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT CubeSat design has been already studied and formalized but knowledge representation remains a challenge. The management of human‐learnt knowledge during the process is not an aspect that is often spoken about. This paper discusses the proposal of integrating a hierarchical planning approach with a model‐based one to the open‐source Nanospace ...

Trust at Your Own Peril: A Mixed Methods Exploration of the Ability of Large Language Models to Generate Expert‐Like Systems Engineering Artifacts and a Characterization of Failure Modes

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multi‐purpose large language models (LLMs), a subset of generative artificial intelligence (AI), have recently made significant progress. While expectations for LLMs to assist systems engineering (SE) tasks are paramount; the interdisciplinary and complex nature of systems, along with the need to synthesize deep‐domain knowledge and ...
