A selfl-adaptive magnetic charged system for time-suboptimal formation flying maneuvers [PDF]
The development of fast and reliable optimization algorithms is required in order to obtain real-time optimal trajectory on-board spacecraft. In addition, the wide spread of small satellites, due to their low costs, is leading to a greater number of ...

Pre‐Existing Plasmaspheric Density Structure
Abstract We perform a basic model experiment: we run two nearly identical plasmapause simulations, differing only by their initial conditions. The first run contains initial fine‐scale and mesoscale structure, and the second run is initialized with a featureless, circular plasmapause.

Statistical Evaluation of a Foreshock Transient Model Using Ground‐Based ULF Wave Observations
Abstract Hot flow anomalies and foreshock bubbles are discontinuity–driven foreshock transients that generate significant geospace disturbances. A recently developed analytical model can predict their upstream perturbations. In this study, we further evaluate this model by comparing its predictions with geomagnetic disturbances measured by ground‐based

Efficient Control of Formation Flying Spacecraft [PDF]
. Several upcoming European and American space missions will be operated using a number of spacecraft flying in formation. The associated scientific challenges are demanding, both with respect to the construction of the spacecraft as well as to the ...

Estimating Uncertainty of PMW‐Based Convective Fraction Product
Abstract Convective precipitation plays a crucial role in the Earth's hydrological cycle, vertical thermodynamic transport, and natural weather hazards. While satellite passive microwave (PMW) observations offer broad spatial coverage essential for global precipitation monitoring, uncertainties in PMW‐derived precipitation class (i.e., regime) remain ...

Local Evolution of a Prenoon Drainage Plume
Abstract Plasmaspheric drainage plumes are typically observed in the postnoon sector during geomagnetic storms, but their local evolution in the prenoon sector remains poorly understood. Here, we report in situ observations from the Van Allen Probe, revealing multiple localized enhancements in cold electron density near apogee in the prenoon sector ...

Local Estimators for Spacecraft Formation Flying [PDF]
A formation estimation architecture for formation flying builds upon the local information exchange among multiple local estimators. Spacecraft formation flying involves the coordination of states among multiple spacecraft through relative sensing, inter-

Abstract We present observations from two consecutive TRACERS‐2 orbits through the northern low‐altitude cusp. During the first crossing, TRACERS‐2 observed reversed cusp ion dispersion and sunward convection, consistent with magnetopause reconnection tailward of the cusp during this northward IMF interval.
