Diverse Treatment Goals in Psoriatic Arthritis: Insights from participants in the PARC cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The aim was to examine patient‐reported treatment goals among individuals with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Methods Participants in the Psoriatic Arthritis Research Consortium (PARC) completed standardized assessments including patient‐reported outcome (PROs) instruments between 2017‐2020.

Care Homes in Spain in the COVID-19 Pandemic: Lessons Learned from an Intervention by Médecins Sans Frontières

open access: yesJournal of Humanitarian Affairs, 2021
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in early 2020, it rapidly became apparent that older individuals were at greater risk of serious illness and death. The risk was even greater for residents in care homes, who live in close proximity and may be suffering ...

The Longitudinal Relationship Between Pain and Depression in People with Inflammatory Arthritis: a Narrative Review

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
As many patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) have chronic pain, understanding how to best assess and manage pain in IA is a priority. Co‐morbid depression is prevalent in adults with IA, affecting 15 to 39% of people. Whilst pain and depression are thought to be associated in IA, this concept is largely based on cross‐sectional data.

The effect of double taxation treaties and territorial tax systems on foreign direct investment: evidence for Spain

open access: yesEconomics: Journal Articles, 2019
The paper evaluates the effect of Double Taxation Treaties (DTTs) on Spain’s inward and outward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for the period 1993–2013. Estimates produce positive and statistically significant coefficients.

The Gaia photometric calibration and results on Galactic runaways [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We present results on two different Gaia-related topics. First, we describe our efforts to calibrate the three Gaia photometric passbands G, G_BP, and G_RP. We have built a new spectrophotometric HST/STIS library and used it to derive new sensitivity curves and zero points for the three bands, including recipes on how to correct some cases.

Mechanisms of De‐icing by Surface Rayleigh and Plate Lamb Acoustic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ice accretion impacts daily life, renewable energy generation, maintenance, and security in industries and aeronautics. Acoustic waves (AW) are a promising method for ice removal, although de‐icing mechanisms require further investigation to optimize energy efficiency.

Optical Continuum Sources in Gravitationally Lensed Quasars [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
We review some techniques to study the nature and size of the optical continuum sources in multiple QSOs. We focus on the source originating the events with several months timescale (the rapid variability source) as well as the source that is responsible for the non-variable background component (the background source). The techniques are used to study

Material Challenges and Alloy Selection for Particle/s‐CO2 Heat Exchangers in Concentrated Solar Power Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Combining supercritical CO2 (s‐CO2) cycles with particle‐based heat transfer media holds great potential in concentrated solar power plants but poses enormous material challenges. The particle/s‐CO2 heat exchanger must withstand extreme conditions, including high temperatures, pressures, CO2 corrosion, and erosion.
