An ultra-tunable platform for molecular engineering of high-performance crystalline porous materials

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Synthetic design of crystalline porous materials is important for applications such as catalysis and adsorption. Here, the authors demonstrate a platform for the development of crystalline porous materials with a variety of organic ligands and metallic ...

mcstas_gisans: combining ray tracing with the distorted‐wave Born approximation using McStas and BornAgain for virtual GISANS experiments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
mcstas_gisans is a Python‐based framework that enables simulation of grazing‐incidence small‐angle neutron scattering experiments by integrating McStas and BornAgain into a single workflow. The mcstas_gisans framework is a collection of Python scripts and modules to facilitate the simulation of grazing‐incidence small‐angle neutron scattering (GISANS ...

Spallation neutron source beam current monitor electronics [PDF]

open access: yesPACS2001. Proceedings of the 2001 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.01CH37268), 2002
The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) to be constructed at ORNL is a collaboration of six laboratories. The beam current monitors for SNS will be used to monitor H-minus and H-plus beams ranging from the 15 mA (tune-up in the Front End and Linac) to over 60 A fully accumulated in the Ring.

Accurate simulations of magnetic excitations in the neutron simulation package McStas

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
We present an accurate algorithm for simulating neutron scattering from spin waves in the ray‐tracing package McStas. An algorithm for the accurate simulation of neutron scattering from magnetic excitations has been developed and implemented as new component for the neutron ray‐tracing software McStas.

Unraveling the symmetry of Al5C3N

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, EarlyView.
From experimental and theoretical techniques employed in this thorough reexamination of the structure of Al5C3N, the crystal structure is better described in centrosymmetric space group P63/mmc (No. 194) rather than in the previously reported noncentrosymmetric space group P63mc (No. 186).High‐temperature ceramic compound Al5C3N belongs to the scarcely

Synthesis of neutron-rich transuranic nuclei in fissile spallation targets

open access: yes, 2014
A possibility of synthesizing neutron-reach super-heavy elements in spallation targets of Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS) is considered. A dedicated software called Nuclide Composition Dynamics (NuCoD) was developed to model the evolution of isotope ...

Noble gases and nitrogen in material from asteroid Bennu

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report the elemental and isotopic abundances of all stable noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) in eight particles from asteroid Bennu returned by NASA's OSIRIS‐REx mission. We also report nitrogen abundances and isotopic ratios that were analyzed alongside neon and argon in four additional Bennu particles.

Slow neutron leakage spectra from spallation neutron sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
An efficient technique is described for Monte Carlo simulation of neutron beam spectra from target-moderator-reflector assemblies typical of pulsed spallation neutron sources. The technique involves the scoring of the transport-theoretical probability that a neutron will emerge from the moderator surface in the direction of interest, at each collision.
