Shear Behavior of Self Compacting R.C. I-Beams

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2012
Twelve SCC I-Beams were designed to investigate the shear behavior under twoconcentrated loads. All beams have the same longitudinal steel ratio of (0.0145) and grosssection area of (29000 mm2).

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

ON THE DEFLECTION OF A BEAM OF VARIABLE CROSS SECTION WITH FIXED SPAN

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 1955
The buckling problem of various beams of variable cross sections has been fully considered by many authors, and the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the buckling problem of those beams are available in books and papers on this subject. Firstly, this paper shows that the deflection of these beams under the combined action of lateral load and axial ...

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

Correlated Metal LaNiO3 as a p‐Type Transparent Conductor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
p‐type transparent conducting oxides are needed to enable superstrate solar cell geometries with n‐type absorbers. The p‐type correlated metal LaNiO3 combines high optical transmission with low electrical resistivity and is compatible with a range of scalable deposition processes.

From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.
