All-Organic Electrochromic Spandex

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2010
Herein we describe the preparation and characterization of reflective-type electrochromic devices using stretchable, conductive fabric electrodes. Two fabrics were used in this study: woven stainless steel mesh and Lycra spandex impregnated with a conducting polymer (poly[3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene]-poly[styrene sulfonate], PEDOT-PSS).

CONTACT DERMATITIS DUE TO SPANDEX

Archives of Dermatology, 1967
Allergic contact dermatitis due to a polyurethane elastomer (spandex) is reported. The dermatitis presents a characteristic distribution over the back, corresponding to the spandex-containing portions of bras. In each case the patients also have positive closed patch-test reactions to the rubber accelerator mercaptobenzothiazole.

Analysis of Spandex Fiber Composition of Cotton/Spandex Knitted Fabric

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The research objec is establishing the data relationship among spandex composition, spandex count and tension to plain knitted fabric made of cotton/spandex. Compared with the theoretical calculation method, split method and dissolved method have been used to test the composition of spandex.

Removal of spandex from nylon/spandex blended fabrics by selective polymer degradation

Textile Research Journal, 2013
As the use of fabrics containing spandex for apparel applications is expanding, developing eco-friendly technologies to recycle the industrial as well as post-consumer waste for spandex blended fabrics becomes increasingly important. As is known in the industry and demonstrated in this study, spandex may be removed from blended fabrics by dissolving ...

Contact dermatitis from spandex brassieres.

JAMA, 1967
Nine patients had allergic contact dermatitis to elastic materials in brassieres and one had the same reaction to a girdle. Three had classical rubber dermatitis, but the remainder were sensitive to spandex, a stretchable, synthetic fabric. Some of these patients also were contact sensitive to mercaptobenzothiazole (MBZ).
