Technology Assessment of offshore wind turbines: Floating platforms – Validated by case study

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
Although floating offshore wind technology is gaining interest due to its potential, the platform part makes the highest proportion of the total cost. As a result, an appropriate selection is necessary to reduce the cost.

A Spar Modelling Platform Case Study: Skynet 5

open access: yesSafety and Reliability, 2012
AbstractThis paper documents a case study into the Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) modelling activity undertaken for the Skynet 5 Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) service programme between January 2006 and July 2011. The AR&M modelling activity was completed using the Monte Carlo simulation tool SPAR, produced by Clockwork Solutions ...

Predictive Ability of Plasma p‐tau217 for β‐Amyloid Status: A Prospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma tau phosphorylated at threonine 217 (p‐tau217) measured with fully automated platforms has shown high accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis, but real‐world multicenter data remain limited. We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of p‐tau217 for identifying AD pathology in a real‐world multicenter cohort ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Investigation into the Potential Use of Damping Plates in a Spar-Type Floating Offshore Wind Turbine

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Spar is one of the promising floating platforms to support offshore wind turbines. Wind heeling moment is large in the case of floating offshore wind turbines and, therefore, it is important to reduce the pitch motion of the floating platform. To address

An Epigenetic Fate Converter Based on Nuclei‐Targeting Lipid Nanoparticles Drives Neuronal Programming of Stem Cells for Spinal Cord Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of LNP‐MPG nuclei‐targeting delivery of HMW‐FGF2 promoting histone acetylation to regulate the fate of DPSCs and treat spinal cord injury. LNPs components include pHMW‐FGF2 plasmid, DSPC, Dlin‐MC3‐DMA, cholesterol, and PEG2000, and are modified with MPG to form HMW‐FGF2@LNP‐MPG (HLM). HLM nuclei‐targets DPSCs to deliver HMW‐FGF2,

Numerical and experimental study on the scale effect of internal solitary wave loads on spar platforms

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2020
Based on laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, the scale effect of Internal Solitary Wave (ISW) loads on spar platforms is investigated. First, the waveforms, loads, and torques on the spar model at a laboratory obtained by the experiments ...

Market Needs, Opportunities and Barriers for the Floating Wind Industry

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
This paper reviews the status of floating wind energy expansion, market needs, opportunities, and barriers. Even more expensive than many other generation technologies currently, the floating wind will contribute to the decarbonization of Europe.

Response of a Spar Platform Under the Occurrence of Extreme Waves

open access: yesVolume 2: Structures, Safety and Reliability, 2011
In this note, the response of a Spar Platform is studied when subject to very high waves. The novelty of this paper consists in adopting the Quasi Determinism (QD) theory in its first formulation for the determination of the response of the structure. In fact, one of the peculiarities of QD theory is that it can be adopted under any boundary condition.
