Colocated MIMO Radar Waveform-Array Joint Optimization for Sparse Array. [PDF]

open access: yesSensors (Basel), 2023
Colocated multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar can transmit a group of distinct waveforms via its colocated transmit antennas and the waveform diversity leads to several advantages in contrast to conventional phased-array radar. The performance depends highly on the degrees available, and element spacing can be deemed as another source of ...

Low Discrepancy Sparse Phased Array Antennas [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Sparse arrays have grating lobes in the far field pattern due to the large spacing of elements residing in a rectangular or triangular grid. Random element spacing removes the grating lobes but produces large variations in element density across the aperture. In fact, some areas are so dense that the elements overlap.

Optimal Design of Sparse Array for Ultrasonic Total Focusing Method by Binary Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Ultrasonic phased array technology is used in various fields. Traditional full phased arrays place elements in every position of a uniform lattice with half-wavelength spacing between the lattice points, so the hardware cost is very high.

Synthesis of sparse planar arrays

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1997
A synthesis method is proposed that is aimed at designing a planar, sparse, and aperiodic array to be used in a beamforming processor. This method minimises the number of elements able to generate a beam pattern that fulfils various a priori fixed constraints. The obtained results are better than those proposed in related literature.

L-Shaped Sparse Array Structure for 2-D DOA Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In order to improve the performance of two-dimensional (2-D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation, an L-shaped sparse array structured by two new sparse linear arrays is proposed. Each part of the proposed L-shaped array is used for one-dimensional (1-D)

Current Status and New Challenges of The Tunka Radio Extension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The Tunka Radio Extension (Tunka-Rex) is an antenna array spread over an area of about 1~km$^2$. The array is placed at the Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic rays and Gamma Astronomy (TAIGA) and detects the radio emission of air showers in the band of

Detecting novel genes with sparse arrays [PDF]

open access: yesGene, 2010
Species-specific genes play an important role in defining the phenotype of an organism. However, current gene prediction methods can only efficiently find genes that share features such as sequence similarity or general sequence characteristics with previously known genes.

Lensless wide-field fluorescent imaging on a chip using compressive decoding of sparse objects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate the use of a compressive sampling algorithm for on-chip fluorescent imaging of sparse objects over an ultra-large field-of-view (>8 cm(2)) without the need for any lenses or mechanical scanning.
