Synthesis of Sparse Arrays Based On CIGA (Convex Improved Genetic Algorithm)

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications, 2020
In this paper, a novel hybrid algorithm on beam pattern synthesis of sparse arrays is proposed, which aims at minimizing the peak sidelobe level (PSLL). Sparse arrays can provide higher spatial resolution and relatively lower sidelobe than general arrays,

A Sparse-Array Design Method Using Q Uniform Linear Arrays for Direction-of-Arrival Estimation

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Nowadays, sparse arrays have been a hotspot for research in the direction of arrival (DOA). In order to achieve a big value for degrees of freedom (DOFs) using spatial smoothing methods, researchers try to use multiple uniform linear arrays (ULAs) to ...

3D Coprime Arrays in Sparse Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesICASSP 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2019
Coprime arrays are a class of sensor arrays that play a crucial role in various signal processing tasks because of their desirable properties such as sparsity and increased degrees of freedom (DOF) of coarrays. In this contribution, a new class of three-dimensional (3D) arrays is constructed from pure cubic fields.

Compilation of sparse array programming models [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages, 2021
This paper shows how to compile sparse array programming languages. A sparse array programming language is an array programming language that supports element-wise application, reduction, and broadcasting of arbitrary functions over dense and sparse arrays with any fill value.

Passive localisation of mixed near‐field and far‐field signals using the transformed symmetric nested array

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2023
Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of mixed near‐field (NF) and far‐field (FF) signals is one of the key issues in the study of array signal processing. For more precise localisation performance, sparse arrays have drawn the attention of an increasing

Detecting novel genes with sparse arrays. [PDF]

open access: yesGene, 2010
Species-specific genes play an important role in defining the phenotype of an organism. However, current gene prediction methods can only efficiently find genes that share features such as sequence similarity or general sequence characteristics with previously known genes.

Symmetry-Imposed Rectangular Coprime and Nested Arrays for Direction of Arrival Estimation With Multiple Signal Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Linear sparse arrays (coprime and nested arrays) have been studied extensively as a means of performing direction of arrival (DoA) estimation while bypassing Nyquist sampling theorem. However, rectangular sparse arrays have few studies, most of which are

Random SBT Precoding for Angle Estimation of mmWave Massive MIMO Systems Using Sparse Arrays Spacing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this article, we consider the estimation of angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) for mmWave MIMO channels. For mmWave systems, there is typically a large number of antennas but limited radio frequency (RF) chains.

Synthesis of sparse planar arrays

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1997
A synthesis method is proposed that is aimed at designing a planar, sparse, and aperiodic array to be used in a beamforming processor. This method minimises the number of elements able to generate a beam pattern that fulfils various a priori fixed constraints. The obtained results are better than those proposed in related literature.

Sparse Rectangular and Spiral Array Designs for 3D Medical Ultrasound Imaging

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In three-dimensional (3D) medical ultrasound imaging with two-dimensional (2D) arrays, sparse 2D arrays have been studied to reduce the number of active channels.
