Synthesis of sparse planar arrays

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1997
A synthesis method is proposed that is aimed at designing a planar, sparse, and aperiodic array to be used in a beamforming processor. This method minimises the number of elements able to generate a beam pattern that fulfils various a priori fixed constraints. The obtained results are better than those proposed in related literature.

Fast Underdetermined DOA Estimation Based on Generalized MRA via Original Covariance Vector Sparse Reconstruction

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Minimum redundancy array (MRA) has the maximum aperture with continuous difference co-array among various sparse arrays with same number of physical sensors, but it is hard to calculate the sensor position of MRA and realize array design by using MRA. To

Sparse Rectangular and Spiral Array Designs for 3D Medical Ultrasound Imaging

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In three-dimensional (3D) medical ultrasound imaging with two-dimensional (2D) arrays, sparse 2D arrays have been studied to reduce the number of active channels.

Super Nested Arrays: Sparse arrays with Less Mutual Coupling than Nested Arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In array processing, mutual coupling between sensors has an adverse effect on the estimation of parameters (e.g., DOA). Sparse arrays, such as nested arrays, coprime arrays, and minimum redundancy arrays (MRAs), have reduced mutual coupling compared to ...

Sparse Automotive MIMO Radar for Super-Resolution Single Snapshot DOA Estimation With Mutual Coupling

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
A novel sparse automotive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar configuration is proposed for low-complexity super-resolution single snapshot direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation.

Simulations of partially coherent focal plane imaging arrays: Fisher matrix approach to performance evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Focal plane arrays of bolometers are increasingly employed in astronomy at far--infrared to millimetre wavelengths. The focal plane fields and the detectors are both partially coherent in these systems, but no account has previously been taken of the ...

Gaussian Signal Detection With Product Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The paper specifies the probability density function (PDF) for the detection statistic for a product processor of colinear arrays. The product processor's detection PDF is a scaled product of the detection statistic with modified Bessel functions.

The sparse array elements selection in sparse imaging of circular-array photoacoustic tomography

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences, 2022
Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) has been developed, and photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT) is widely used for in vivo tissue and mouse imaging. Simulated annealing (SA) algorithm solves optimization problems, and compressed sensing (CS) recovers sparse signals from undersampled measurements. We aim to develop an advanced sparse imaging framework for

Direction Finding of Electromagnetic Sources on a Sparse Cross-Dipole Array Using One-Bit Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Sparse array arrangement has been widely used in vector-sensor arrays because of increased degree-of-freedoms for identifying more sources than sensors.

Photodynamic therapy with light-emitting diode arrays producing different light fields induces apoptosis and necrosis in gastrointestinal cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
IntroductionLight-emitting diodes (LEDs) have become a new light source for photodynamic therapy (PDT) because of their excellent optical properties, small size, and low cost.
