Sparse Convolutional Beamforming for Ultrasound Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2018
The standard technique used by commercial medical ultrasound systems to form B-mode images is delay and sum (DAS) beamforming. However, DAS often results in limited image resolution and contrast, which are governed by the center frequency and the aperture size of the ultrasound transducer.

Sparse Deconvolution of B-Scan Images [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2007
In this paper, a new computationally efficient sparse deconvolution algorithm for the use on B-scan images from objects with relatively few scattering targets is presented. It is based on a linear image formation model that has been used earlier in connection with linear minimum mean squared error (MMSE) two-dimensional (2-D) deconvolution.

Sparse Total Focus Imaging of Rail Transit Rail Defects Based on Grey Wolf Algorithm

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] Using the ultrasonic phased array technology can realize high-precision imaging detection of rail transit rail defects. However, the widely used FMC-TFM (full matrix capture-total focusing method) has the disadvantages of long computation ...

Analyzing Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in Sparse Spectroscopic Samples via Cross-Correlation with Dense Photometry

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a formalism for measuring the cosmological distance scale from baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) using the cross-correlation of a sparse redshift survey with a denser photometric sample. This reduces the shot noise that would otherwise affect

Super-resolution far-field ghost imaging via compressive sampling

open access: yes, 2011
Much more image details can be resolved by improving the system's imaging resolution and enhancing the resolution beyond the system's Rayleigh diffraction limit is generally called super-resolution.

Sparse Multiscale Patches for Image Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents a framework to define an objective measure of the similarity (or dissimilarity) between two images for image processing. The problem is twofold: 1) define a set of features that capture the information contained in the image relevant for the given task and 2) define a similarity measure in this feature space.

Sparse Bayesian Learning Based Three-Dimensional Imaging Algorithm for Off-Grid Air Targets in MIMO Radar Array

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
In recent years, the development of compressed sensing (CS) and array signal processing provides us with a broader perspective of 3D imaging. The CS-based imaging algorithms have a better performance than traditional methods.

Single-Neuron Level One-Photon Voltage Imaging With Sparsely Targeted Genetically Encoded Voltage Indicators

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2019
Voltage imaging of many neurons simultaneously at single-cell resolution is hampered by the difficulty of detecting small voltage signals from overlapping neuronal processes in neural tissue. Recent advances in genetically encoded voltage indicator (GEVI)
