THE CORRELATION STRUCTURE OF SPATIAL AUTOREGRESSIONS [PDF]

open access: yesEconometric Theory, 2012
This paper investigates how the correlations implied by a first-order simultaneous autoregressive (SAR(1)) process are affected by the weights matrix and the autocorrelation parameter. A graph theoretic representation of the covariances in terms of walks connecting the spatial units helps to clarify a number of correlation properties of the processes ...

Variability of physics-based simulated ground motions in Thessaloniki urban area and its implications for seismic risk assessment

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
An accurate characterization of earthquake ground motion and its variability is crucial for seismic hazard and risk analysis of spatially distributed portfolios in urban areas.

Spatial correlated vortex arrays

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
Spatial correlated vortex arrays may form in the same beam when a random source contains multiple helical phase structures. We introduced two types of partially coherent sources with Cartesian and polar symmetric helical phase structure and reveal the characteristics of their radiated fields, respectively.

Spatial–temporal evolution and correlation analysis between habitat quality and landscape patterns based on land use change in Shaanxi Province, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2023
Regional habitat quality is an important reflection of ecosystem services and ecosystem health. Exploring the characteristics of habitat quality changes and revealing the vulnerability of regional ecosystems caused could provide reference for the ...

Denoising by spatial correlation thresholding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2003
This paper presents a spatial-correlation thresholding scheme for noise reduction by wavelet transform. Observing that edge structures are of high magnitude across wavelet scales but noise decays rapidly, we multiply two adjacent wavelet scales to form a spatial-correlation function to enhance significant structures and dilute noise.

Spatial sign correlation

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 2015
A new robust correlation estimator based on the spatial sign covariance matrix (SSCM) is proposed. We derive its asymptotic distribution and influence function at elliptical distributions. Finite sample and robustness properties are studied and compared to other robust correlation estimators by means of numerical simulations.

The Assessment Of Geographical Borders In Economic Research

open access: yesComparative Economic Research, 2016
The length of common border between two geographical units is frequently used as a basic weight in spatial analysis. The newest methodological propositions such as tests for hierarchical relations (Markowska et. al. 2014; Sokołowski et. al.

Spatial Correlation Robust Inference

open access: yesEconometrica, 2022
We propose a method for constructing confidence intervals that account for many forms of spatial correlation. The interval has the familiar “estimator plus and minus a standard error times a critical value” form, but we propose new methods for constructing the standard error and the critical value.
