Spatial spillovers in the development of institutions
Journal of Development Economics, 2008Abstract We examine spatial spillovers in institutional development. Dependent variables are institutional measures reflecting politics, law, and governmental administration. The explanatory variable of interest is the level of institutions in bordering countries—a spatial lag of the dependent variable.

We present a theory of spatial development. A continuum of locations in a geographic area choose each period how much to innovate (if at all) in manufacturing and services. Locations can trade subject to transport costs and technology diffuses spatially across locations.

Development of a New Spatial Test
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1987The development of a new colored spatial test is described. Some psychometric characteristics of this new test are presented from a correlational study, and some suggestions about its incorporation into research are offered.

Spatial ability is manifest across different psychological domains, including perception, action, and cognition. The development of spatial understanding originates in the perception-action skills of infants. When infants act on the world, either during object manipulation or locomotion, one may begin to glean the foundations of older children’s and ...

This chapter is a selective review of spatial development, stressing several points. First, we suggest that spatial development can be usefully considered to have two strands: (a) the development of intraobject (or intrinsic) representations along with the ability to transform them (e.g., in mental rotation) and (b) the development of interobject (or ...

Malleability in the development of spatial reorientation
Developmental Psychobiology, 2012AbstractAfter becoming disoriented, organisms must re‐establish their position in space. The core knowledge position argues that reorientation relies only on extended 3D surfaces, and that this sensitivity operates automatically and is innately present.

The Development of Spatial Perspective Taking
1989Publisher Summary Children's solutions to spatial problems pose an intriguing puzzle in development. For some time, difficulties with such tasks have been thought to index a pervasive characteristic of children's thought, called “egocentrism,” but recent research has shown clearly that at least by 2 years of age, children are not egocentric in the ...

Spatial architecture of development and disease
Nature Reviews GeneticsTissue architecture is a product of a multilayered molecular landscape, where even subtle disruptions in the spatial context can initiate or reflect disease processes. Recent advances in high-throughput spatial omics technologies have enabled the investigation of this complexity in stunning detail, providing groundbreaking insights into how spatial ...

Development of an Embedded Spatial MMDBMS for Spatial Mobile Devices
2005Recently, with the development of wireless communications and mobile computing, interest in mobile computing is rising. Mobile computing can be regarded as an environment where a user carries mobile devices and shares resources with a server via wireless communications.
