Transmit diversity as a combination of spatial and delay diversity

2000 IEEE Sixth International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications. ISSTA 2000. Proceedings (Cat. No.00TH8536), 2002
We present performance results of some of the algebraic space-time (ST) block codes based on the combination of Hadamard spreading sequences with rotated constellations. Given a vector x in a rotated constellation in dimension n that has full spatial diversity, we spread each component x/sub j/ of x by a different Hadamard sequence of length n and send

Spatial Diversity-Achieving Quadrature Spatial Modulation

2018 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering (AUTEEE), 2018
Quadrature space modulation (QSM) was viewed recently as a viable multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication technique for next generation wireless system. In this paper, the new scheme achieving spatial diversity of QSM system called SDA-QSM is designed.

Receive spatial coding for distributed diversity

2013 Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2013
We consider a distributed reception scenario where the transmitter transmits a signal and multiple geographically separated receive nodes forward the processed version (using only a small number of bits) of their received signal to the fusion center.

Virtual Spatial Modulation with Diversity Improvement

2017 IEEE 86th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2017
This paper proposes a novel generalised pre-coding aided spatial modulation (GPSM) scheme, called generalised virtual spatial modulation (GVSM), which performs index modulation on the virtual parallel channels obtained by the singular value decomposition (SVD) of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels.

Spatially correlated diversity-induced resonance

Physical Review E, 2009
Based on recent work [C. J. Tessone, C. R. Mirasso, R. Toral, and J. D. Gunton, Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 194101 (2006)], the study of coupled bistable oscillators with different sources of diversity is extended. Effects of the correlation between the diversity on the resonant response of the system are discussed.

Spatial scaling of microbial eukaryote diversity

Nature, 2004
Patterns in the spatial distribution of organisms provide important information about mechanisms that regulate the diversity of life and the complexity of ecosystems. Although microorganisms may comprise much of the Earth's biodiversity and have critical roles in biogeochemistry and ecosystem functioning, little is known about their spatial ...

Distributed rotation recovers spatial diversity

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010
In relay networks, a conventional way to exploit spatial diversity is to introduce distributed space-time processing at the relays. In our work, we show that even simple time-varying distributed rotation can recover spatial diversity. The main idea is to convert the inherent spatial diversity to time diversity by creating an artificial fast fading ...

Smart antenna and spatial diversity-combining

Vehicular Technology Conference. IEEE 55th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Spring 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37367), 2003
The smart antenna and spatial diversity-combining receiver are two of the most important spatial signal processing technologies. This paper studies the radio propagation characteristics of the transmission path, spatio-temporal channel model and channel characteristics in different environments.

Gain of spatial diversity with conjoint signals

2017 IEEE AFRICON, 2017
This paper proposes a novel method of achieving conjoint coding gain without additional signal measurement requirements. In the proposed scheme, received signals in a spatial diversity system are used to synthesize additional conjoint signals within the neighbourhood of receive antennas. These excess signals are assumed to be from virtual antennas.

Explaining Spatial Diversity in Entrepreneurship

Abstract This study reviews the relationship between cultural diversity and entrepreneurship, focusing on whether local knowledge stocks and knowledge diversity amplify its effects. Using a unique dataset including immigrant entrepreneurship data across sectors, we confirm a positive effect of entrepreneurs’ cultural diversity on ...
