Emotionally mediated spatial experience with AR
Proceedings of the 23rd ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology, 2017This paper speculates and explores how emotional awareness and communication can be enhanced with the mediation of spatial experience. Based on two exploratory user studies, we designed and prototyped a conceptual system that mediates the spatial attributes of the surroundings according to user's choices and their emotional state.

Integrating spatial information across experiences
Psychological Research, 2012The current study examined the potential influence of existing spatial knowledge on the coding of new spatial information. In the Main experiment, participants learned the locations of five objects before completing a perspective-taking task. Subsequently, they studied the same five objects and five additional objects from a new location before ...

Spatial Preference Heterogeneity: A Choice Experiment
Land Economics, 2010The main objective is to assess preference heterogeneity related to the spatial distribution of water quality improvements throughout a river basin. In a choice experiment, the river basin's hydrogeographical units and the levels of water quality improvement are included as attributes in the experimental design.

Experiences on Processing Spatial Data with MapReduce
2009The amount of information in spatial databases is growing as more data is made available. Spatial databases mainly store two types of data: raster data (satellite/aerial digital images), and vector data (points, lines, polygons). The complexity and nature of spatial databases makes them ideal for applying parallel processing.

Oracle8i Spatial: Experiences with Extensible Databases
1999Conventional relational databases often do not have the technology required to handle complex data like spatial data. Unlike the traditional applications of databases, spatial applications require that databases understand complex data types like points, lines, and polygons.

On the design of experiments under spatial correlation
Biometrika, 1986The design aspects of spatially correlated errors are investigated. The theory of analysis of experiments developed is based on the assumptions that there is only one variable of interest, the mn plots are arranged in a rectangular array, and the correlation between adjoining plots is non- negligible in both directions.

The Influence of Visual Experience on Visual and Spatial Imagery
Perception, 2007Differences are reported between blind and sighted participants on a visual-imagery and a spatial-imagery task, but not on an auditory-imagery task. For the visual-imagery task, participants had to compare object forms on the basis of a (verbally presented) object name.

An experiment on spatial price competition
International Journal of Industrial Organization, 2008Abstract This paper investigates price competition in a segmented market. Each segment contains one seller and one consumer, and consumers incur transportation costs when they buy from a seller located in another segment. We consider several competing theoretical solutions to this game and compare the outcomes of a laboratory experiment against these.
