Spatial Light Modulators, 1997Since the evolution of the ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) on silicon spatial light modulator (SLM)1, there have been improvements in resolution, speed and optical quality2,3. The SLM we are presenting here contains improvements to all these factors as well as improvements on fill factor, liquid crystal dynamics and fabrication techniques.

Spatial Light Modulators, 1997
2D arrays of light modulators operating at 980 nm have been designed, fabricated and tested for use in photonic neural networks. The device would also be useful in other photonic systems employing intensity SLMs such as joint transform correlators or optical cross-bar switches.
