Alteration of hippocampal parvalbumin interneurons underlies memory impairment in rat model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience
Cognitive decline is a major non-motor symptom in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) that can be present as early as the prodromal stage. As a multisystem neurodegenerative syndrome, PD is associated with disturbances in various neurotransmitters ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Intrinsic frames of reference in spatial memory

open access: yes, 2002
Three experiments investigated the frames of reference used in memory to represent the spatial structure of the environment. Participants learned the locations of objects in a room according to an intrinsic axis of the configuration; the axis was ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

The impact of acute psychological stress on spatial cognition

open access: yes, 2008
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 54-64).Based on the premise that the hippocampus is both affected by cortisol and intimately involved in episodic memory and spatial cognition, the general aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ...

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Explicit processing of verbal and spatial features during letter-location binding modulates oscillatory activity of a fronto-parietal network.

open access: yes, 2010
The present study investigated the binding of verbal and spatial features in immediate memory. In a recent study, we demonstrated incidental and asymmetrical letter-location binding effects when participants attended to letter features (but not when they
