Slotted ALOHA with MIMO Spatial Multiplexing

2008 4th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2008
Many contention protocols in wireless networks such as carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) incorporate methods that minimize probability of collision. However there is another possible way that collisions can be avoided, that is by getting some help from physical layer technologies.

On the performance of ESPAR for spatial multiplexing in reception

2019 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2019
The electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) has been proposed as an inexpensive device for spatial multiplexing in transmission via the so-called beamspace modulation. On the other hand, spatial multiplexing (SM) is well known to allow a linear increase of capacity in MIMO systems with the number of antennas under rich scattering ...

Efficient polar coded spatial multiplexing

2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2018
This paper explores the design of efficient capacity achieving polar codes for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channels and schemes for polar coded spatial multiplexing (PCSM). For polar code construction, the singular value decomposition (SVD) of a given MIMO channel into multiple independent single input single output (SISO) channels is ...

The minimization of spatially-multiplexed character sets

Communications of the ACM, 1974
The paper describes a technique for compacting character sets in a digital computer while retaining fast access to individual bits. It considers the problem of minimizing the storage needed to contain such tables. Reduction techniques are developed, and the problem is shown to reduce to a covering problem.

Spatial multiplexers and demultiplexers for mode group division multiplex

2013 15th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2013
Spatial multiplexer and demultiplexer are beneath the multimode fiber the key components for a transmission system using mode or mode group division multiplexing (MDM or MGDM). The spatial multiplexer converts the LP01 modes of the incoming singlemode fibers into the desired modes or mode groups of the multimode fiber.

Photonic lantern spatial multiplexers in space-division multiplexing

2013 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series, 2013
Photonic-lanterns are lossless spatial-multiplexers that scramble N signals onto the N modes of a multi-mode fiber without mode- dependent loss. They can scale to large N and have enabled transmission over a fiber supporting 12 spatial and polarization-modes.
