Spatial query processing for sketch-based query using heuristics

6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002., 2003
Sketching the spatial query is one of the leading spatial database query methods (Blaser (2000)) for searching similar configurations. However, when the sketched spatial scene is processed with ordinary query processing methods, it does not achieve the efficiency that is desired especially dealing with large datasets (N>1000).

Query Processing in Spatial-Query-by-Sketch

Journal of Visual Languages & Computing, 1997
Abstract Spatial-Query-by-Sketch is the design of a query language for geographic information systems. It allows a user to formulate a spatial query by drawing the desired configuration with a pen on a touch-sensitive computer screen and translates this sketch into a symbolic representation that can be processed against a geographic database.

Smooth query processing in spatial database

2013 Fourth International Conference on Computing, Communications and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT), 2013
Spatial database is a database that is optimized to store and query data. In order to process spatial database a set of functions are needed to process spatial data types called geometry or feature. These set of function are designed by spatial database query framework called Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

Enabling Query Processing on Spatial Networks

22nd International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE'06), 2006
A system that enables real time query processing on large spatial networks is demonstrated. The system provides functionality for processing a wide range of spatial queries such as nearest neighbor searches and spatial joins on spatial networks of sufficiently large sizes.

Spatial query processing for fuzzy objects

The VLDB Journal, 2012
Range and nearest neighbor queries are the most common types of spatial queries, which have been investigated extensively in the last decades due to its broad range of applications. In this paper, we study this problem in the context of fuzzy objects that have indeterministic boundaries.

Query Processing in Spatial Databases

2005
Spatial data management has been an active area of intensive research for more than two decades. In order to support spatial objects in a database system, several important issues must be taken into account such as spatial data models, indexing mechanisms, and efficient query processing. A spatial database system (SDBS) is a database system that offers

Geospatial Query Processing for Big Spatial Data: Spatial Analytics

2021
The increasing availability of large-scale geospatial data has created opportunities and challenges in the field of spatial analytics. This abstract provides an overview of the key concepts and challenges in geospatial query processing for big spatial data.

Scalable processing of spatial queries

2016
In recent years, geospatial data have been produced in mass e.g., through billions of smartphones and wearable devices. Current exponential growth in data generation by mobile devices on the one hand, and the rate and complexity of recent spatial queries on the other hand, highlights the importance of scalable query processing techniques.

Modelling topological spatial relations: Strategies for query processing

Computers & Graphics, 1994
Abstract This paper investigates the processing of spatial queries with topological constraints, for which current database solutions are inappropriate. Topological relations, such as disjoint, meet, overlap, inside, and contains, have been well defined by the 9-intersection, a comprehensive model for binary topological relations.

Spatial Query Processing on Distributed Databases

2013
In recent years, with the ubiquity of location-aware mobile devices and widespread deployment of wireless networks, location-based services (LBSs) have become popular rapidly. Spatial queries, one useful LBS, enable users to query about the interested data objects near them.
