The spatial resolution limit of phagocytosis

Biophysical Journal, 2023
Antibody-opsonized bacteria interact with Fc receptors in macrophages and trigger signaling cascades, which induce phagocytosis. The signaling pathways ultimately lead to actin polymerization that induces the protrusion of the membrane around the bacterium until it is completely engulfed.

Spatial resolution of the galago

Vision Research, 1986
The spatial vision of two adult galagos (Galago crassicaudatus) was assessed using a two choice discrimination task to determine their contrast sensitivity. Both contrast sensitivity functions exhibited low and high spatial frequency attenuation with the peak sensitivity at 1%.

The spatial resolution of the ALEPH TPC

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989
Abstract The present understanding of the factors which limit the rφ measurement accuracy of the ALEPH time projection chamber is outlined. The resolution for high-momentum tracks is shown to be dominated by the E × B and angular affects.

Spatial Resolution in NMR Imaging

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 1984
NMR imaging is used as an example of how spatial resolution can be improved in a signal-to-noise (S/N) limited situation. The NMR imaging process consists of two components-generating the NMR signal and localizing it in space. This paper will show that spatial resolution not only aids in identifying small structures, but improves the detectability of ...

Dynamic spatial resolution

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1979
The study of the dynamic behaviour of radiopharmaceuticals within a patient using a scintillation camera with data acquisition and processing facilities often presents analytical problems because of the limited data available. In the effort to maintain good spatial resolution sensitivity is often needlessly reduced producing further limitation in the ...

On the Spatial Resolution of GNSS Reflectometry

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2016
A method for defining the spatial resolution of a Global Navigation Satellite System reflectometry delay–Doppler map (DDM) and of any derived geophysical product is proposed. An effective spatial resolution is derived as a function of measurement geometry and delay–Doppler (DD) interval, and as a more appropriate representation of resolution than the ...

Spatial uncertainty and spatial resolution

Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1988
An observer’s ability to detect a threshold visual target depends on his knowledge of stimulus parameters, such as the target’s color, and its spatial and temporal locus. Withholding knowledge of the spatial locus of a visual acuity target should depress visual resolution because of the close theoretical relationship between spatial resolving power and

On the spatial resolution of clinical thermometers

Medical Physics, 1992
In this work the spatial resolution of type T (copper‐Constantan) and type K (Chromel‐Alumel) multipoint thermocouple thermometers was investigated. For clinical use, thermocouples are usually inserted within catheters to provide easy access, reproducibility, and a sterile environment.

The spatial resolution of scalp EEG

Neurocomputing, 2001
Abstract The scalp electroencephalogram (EEG) exhibits spatiotemporal dynamics reflecting synchronous dendritic activity of cortical pyramidal neurons. Recent advances in EEG acquisition and electric head modeling are improving the spatial resolution of scalp EEG, but the skull remains an obstacle.
