Multivariate analysis applied to evaluate the spatial variability of a soil subjected to conservation management

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica
Monitoring the spatial variability of soil attributes is an important tool in crop management. Multivariate statistical methods and geostatistics were jointly applied to evaluate the infl uence of different attributes on spatial variability in the soil ...

Statistical modelling and variability of the subtropical front, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ocean fronts are narrow zones of intense dynamic activity that play an important role in global ocean-atmosphere interactions. Of particular significance is the circumglobal frontal system of the Southern Ocean where intermediate water masses are formed,

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

An approach to access urban soils’ spatial variability at the local level

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Agronomy and Animal Industries, 2012
There is still lack of clear information on the urban soils mainly because of their extremely high spatial variability. In this study we analyzed the specific features of urban soils’ spatial variability at the local level (64 ha plot; 126 sampling ...

Spatial Variability of Penetration Resistance on Pseudogley

open access: yesAgriculturae Conspectus Scientificus, 2015
Usually large numbers of measurements are required to describe spatial variability of soil resistance but GIS technology with interpolations methods make it possible to estimate data from unsampled locations. In this paper cone index (CI) measurements were made in two occasions in 2.88 ha field in central Croatia to present soil condition.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Spatial Modelling of Water Availability and Choice of Crop Production in a River Basin

open access: yes
This paper analyze the problems of water resource allocation and crop choice in a river basin using spatial analytical tools. Spatial variability of water availability is modelled by the product sum model. Here the water availability at any farm Z(xj) is

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

A framework for the analysis of the influence of rainfall spatial organization and basin morphology on flood response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work describes the derivation of a set of statistics, termed spatial moments of catchment rainfall, that quantify the dependence between rainfall spatial organization, basin morphology and runoff response.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.
