Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Computational analysis and modeling of climate impact on Pteridium aquilinum (L.) populations
Pteridium aquilinum is a medicinally important fern with a limited range in northern Iran, increasingly threatened by climate change. Using morphological, genetic, and environmental data, we assessed differentiation, adaptive capacity, and vulnerability ...

Sediment Transport Predictions and Bed Surface Adjustments in Spatially Variable Flow
In mountainous rivers bedforms, large relatively immobile grains, and bed texture and topographic variability, and can significantly alter local and reach-averaged flow characteristics but this variability is often omitted in bed load calculations.

Spatially Resolved Gain Measurements in a CO2 Amplifier
Spatially resolved gain measurements at 10.6 μm have been made transverse to the discharge in an axially flowing CO2 laser amplifier. The composition of the amplifier medium has been varied to include initially pure CO2, binary mixtures of CO2:CO, CO2 ...

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Steady flow simulation in irrigation canals
A mathematical model is developed for the analysis of spatially varied steady flow in irrigation canals. The model accounts for canal seepage and effect of control structures at the upstream and downstream ends of the canal.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
