On the Role of Preprocessing and Memristor Dynamics in Reservoir Computing for Image Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reservoir computing (RC) is an emerging recurrent neural network architecture that has attracted growing attention for its low training cost and modest hardware requirements. Memristor‐based circuits are particularly promising for RC, as their intrinsic dynamics can reduce network size and parameter overhead in tasks such as time‐series ...

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Concentric Rheostat Decoupled 3D Force‐Sensing Module for Smart Table Tennis Training

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed sensor array intrinsically decouples normal and shear forces through a unique concentric structural design. By integrating piezoresistive, sliding area‐varying capacitive, and concentric rheostat mechanisms, the 12‐sensor module achieves high‐resolution 3D force mapping without complex algorithms.

An Efficient Graph-Based Spatio-Temporal Indexing Method for Task-Oriented Multi-Modal Scene Data Organization

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2018
Task-oriented scene data in big data and cloud environments of a smart city that must be time-critically processed are dynamic and associated with increasing complexities and heterogeneities. Existing hybrid tree-based external indexing methods are input/

Tri-Clustering Based Exploration of Temporal Resolution Impacts on Spatio-Temporal Clusters in Geo-Referenced Time Series

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Unprecedented amounts of spatio-temporal data instigates an urgent need for patterns exploration in it. Clustering analysis is useful in extracting patterns from big data by grouping similar data elements into clusters.

Uncovering renewable energy policy impact channels on land values, the local farm structure, and farmland heterogeneity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Germany's Renewable Energy Sources Act (REA), enacted in 2000 and subsequently amended, subsidized national renewable energy production with fixed feed‐in tariffs for renewable energy sources (RE) from wind, solar, and biogas. Empirical studies suggest that the policy was creating windfall effects for landowners and attribute farmland use ...

An Improved Spatio-Temporal Kriging Interpolation Algorithm and Its Application in Slope

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Slope stability analysis based on the deformation monitoring data has been commonly used to predict and warn slope disasters. However, due to breakdown of the monitoring equipment or restrictions and interferences of internal and external factors in the ...

A spatio-temporal analysis of suicide in El Salvador [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2017
In 2012, international statistics showed El Salvador's suicide rate as 40th in the world and the highest in Latin America. Over the last 15 years, national statistics show the suicide death rate declining as opposed to an increasing rate of homicide. Though completed suicide is an important social and health issue, little is known about its prevalence,
