Error in ERA5 2‐m temperature identified using GraphCast
We identify a recurrent error in ERA5 2‐m temperature over the Ethiopian Highlands that occurs predominantly at 0600 UTC on ≈7%$$ \approx 7\% $$ of dates. The artefact is caused by the 2D optimal‐interpolation scheme assimilating temporally displaced surface reports (e.g., 0900 UTC) into the 0600 UTC analysis.

This study evaluates the subseasonal predictive skill of tropical–extratropical cloud bands across four subtropical convergence zones in ECMWF reforecasts (2003–2022). Results show that, while exact daily predictions are limited to one week, accounting for temporal displacement improves forecast skill significantly, revealing a systematic early onset ...

ABSTRACT In France, it is estimated that shads (Alosa spp.) have lost 69% of their historical range, mainly due to disrupted river connectivity. After an absence of one century, signs of their return in the Seine River have been recorded over the past two decades: adult and juvenile specimens have been caught by anglers or recorded at video‐counting ...

Imaging spectroscopy enables large‐scale biodiversity assessment, yet spectral diversity metrics are scale dependent. Across 15 NEON ecosystems, we find that spectral richness increases sub‐linearly from 3600 m2 to 4 km2, whereas spectral divergence shows weak or inconsistent scaling with area, underscoring the importance of scale‐aware interpretation ...

Tornado Occurrences in the United States: A Spatio-Temporal Point Process Approach
In this paper, we analyze the tornado occurrences in the Unites States. To perform inference procedures for the spatio-temporal point process we adopt a dynamic representation of Log-Gaussian Cox Process. This representation is based on the decomposition

Urban Housing Markets and Sustainability Risk: Empirical Evidence From South African Cities
ABSTRACT Despite the global shift toward sustainability and rising expectations for socially and environmentally responsible housing, evidence from South Africa's urban markets remains limited and underexplored. This study examines how sustainability‐related vulnerabilities shape downside housing risk across 60 cities between 2002 and 2021.

FunnelCloud: a cloud-based system for exploring tornado events
Recent research has shown an increase in the number of extreme tornado outbreaks per year. The characterization of the spatio-temporal pattern of tornado events is therefore a critical task in the analysis of meteorological data.
