250,000 observations of 7 annual, 11 biennial and 4 flexible lepidoptera species in the Alps and over 150,000 observations of 5 biennial species from Scandinavia were analysed. Maps show distinct patterns of different species that fly predominantly in odd or even years in the researched areas.

Behavioural Diversity of Fishes: Concepts, Drivers and Its Role in Conservation and Management
ABSTRACT Human activity has altered nearly all ecosystems on Earth, contributing to substantial biodiversity loss across taxonomic, genetic and functional dimensions, from the intraspecific to the ecosystem scale. Yet some components of biodiversity remain hidden or underappreciated, including behavioural diversity.

Understanding seabird diet is fundamental to assessing trophic interactions and predicting responses to environmental change. However, seabird diet studies are often constrained by low taxonomic resolution, invasive sampling methods or reliance on opportunistically collected samples, leaving the diet of important populations such as Common Guillemots ...

Closest pair queries in spatio-temporal databases [PDF]
In recent years, spatio-temporal databases have been studied intensively. This paper proposes how to process k closest pair queries in spatio-temporal databases for the first time.

Continuous Query Processing in Spatio-temporal Databases
In this paper, we aim to develop a framework for continuous query processing in spatio-temporal databases. The proposed framework distinguishes itself from other query processors by employing two main paradigms: (1) Scalability in terms of the number ...

We compiled the first checklist of wild bees in Doñana Protected Area, documenting 385 species, including three vulnerable and one endangered species listed in the Red List. Bee species exhibit diverse floral preferences, highlighting the need to incorporate plant–pollinator interactions and the role of plants in conservation and management strategies ...

ABSTRACT The yellow‐legged hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax) is a successful invasive species in Europe, where its monitoring is partially reliant on citizen science (CS) initiatives. While CS is a powerful tool for early detection, taxonomic confusion and fluctuating participant engagement can limit its effectiveness.

Abstract Effective species conservation and management requires comprehensive biomonitoring, enhanced by combining traditional and newer methodologies, such as environmental DNA (eDNA) analyses. A seasonal pulse of spawning adult Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) was detected by normalised eDNA 12S reads from metabarcoding, which facilitated estimation of ...
