Nonreciprocal Swarmalators With Reconfigurable and Controllable Formations for Robot Collectives

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Nonreciprocal swarmalator interactions are enabled through control barrier functions to transform self‐organizing robot collectives into reconfigurable, constraint‐aware systems. Complex two‐ and three‐dimensional shapes, continuous morphing, obstacle‐aware navigation, collective splitting, and object transport emerge from modulating agent‐level ...

Cell‐Based Biohybrid Micro/Nanorobots for Biotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review systematically evaluates cell‐based biohybrid micro/nanorobots (CB‐BMRs), highlighting their cell selection criteria, fabrication strategies, and diverse actuation modes. Furthermore, it surveys the promising therapeutic applications of CB‐BMRs in targeted cancer, thrombosis, and inflammation treatments, while comprehensively discussing ...

Time History Gaussian Process Regression for Modeling the Dynamics of Ankle Exoskeleton User Comfort

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Exoskeletons need to be comfortable, but the perception of comfort may change over time. This study investigated if short‐term time history directly influences comfort. No previous trials’ input features were predictive of comfort. Including the previous trial's comfort score marginally improved model accuracy compared to a model using only the current

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.
